I know it's 4 years old, but still excellent. Wish I had the Rigby Special, but ended up with the CZ550 American Safari in 416 Rigby. Love it!!!!!! 😁😁😁

The CZ action is a genuine Mauser action, the machines came from the Mauser factory after the Treaty of Versailles.

"Cartridges of the World" describes it as the best cartridge bolt gun available for the big game hunter. I don't have personal experience with it but from what I have read, I can easily believe it. I wouldn't try to beat the pros at their own game.

More big game has supposedly been taken with a .303 brit than any other. Bell took something over 1000 elephants with a 7mm Mauser, most with one shot. (And a lot of geese on the wing too!) People need to understand that shot placement and reliability are paramount and born of user friendly rifles with Looong lives that you puck up EVERY time you walk out the door. Same operation different calibers, daily use of a good milsurp '98 sets you up. Same spare parts also. You dont need an M1 abrams. .416 rigby is a favorite exactly because its a big low-pressure cartridge. More reliable velocity in hot climates and better extraction.

Around 800 with 7mm He used the .318 WR Rigby Mauser for his largest bag on safari ,he saw he did not get so many " Odd misses" with that . In his whole battery of rifles ,he also had 2 .416 Rigby light models too.

My 416 Rigby is from CZ in a synthetic stock. Sad thing is I have never fired it yet, and I’ve had it for several years, lol. About the time that I bought it, I picked up five boxes of Hornady cartridges with 400 grain loads. Got to get it out there sometime and put it to use.

Buckle up Buttercup , Your in for a ride if you don't enjoy recoil ! But look at it like this your 416 is at the top of the middle bores and it could be a lot worse . I went to africa three times with mine and did well So you will too. Good luck

"A stout amount of recoil" Indeed! Amazingly, Ron looked like he was able to quickly fire the rifle in short order. However, at more than twice the recoil of a 30-06, I have to imagine that extra recoil pad Ron wore was well appreciated the next day. I've got a Winchester Model 70 in 375h&h and the recoil is very manageable, I'd like to feel how they compare. Great video!

I imagine if he had it stocked perfectly to his dimensions, had a real recoil pad that works (that orange splinter does nothing), and used handloads that shot 400 grain bullets @ 2150-2250 fps instead of 2400, he would tame that 54 foot pounds into something much more manageable, with much faster follow up shots.

Ron I have a rugar 77 in 416 rigby that i need to reduce the recoil in due to heart problems . Whats your thoughts on this ? I load 400 grain bullets and it has the factory stock . I know mussel breaks work but a lot of guides don't like them . What about recoil reducers in the but stock , different stocks or maga na porting . I'am thinking about another trip to Africa and need to reduce recoil as much as possible . I can always go down to 350 grain bullets if needed , I don't really want to . Where would you start Thank you Ricky
