Jingles: “This is a secondary build Amagi” Me: I’m sickened but curious.

Wow! After 6 years watching jingles I finally get featured! And it just had to be a game where I'm pissing about with meme builds lol. Anyways, why a secondary amagi kinda works: - the 140mm casemate guns get improved dispersion - amagi has a turtleback that only works sub 10km - it's fast So as long as you don't run into 32mm overmatch, you can be quite aggressive. But also if you have spare commanders, it gives you a reason to play some neglected port queens. Finally, I think our CV played well, but in the end, the only reason we won is because the Akatsuki forgot to turn off his AA after having it on in smoke. If he had it off and only got spotted from 2km I don't think the planes would have nailed him. Up to that point the Akatsuki was playing an insane game, he ended up 2nd in XP overall on the LOSING team in a tier 8 battle.

You might hate CV's, but that carrier was a legend. I noticed time and again he did his best to protect his teammates, spot, etc. He was on the ball constantly. Got no complaint there.

NC - without a doubt is the player who tried his best to throw the match. Probably not deliberately. But through sheer inability to make good decisions. That CV player saved the game.

Ackshually, Jingles, the Amagi has a turtleback armour scheme, which makes her almost immune to citadels at close range. She’s going to eat massive damage nonetheless, but at least there’s that. Also, the only mistake that aircraft carrier player did was bringing an aircraft carrier to battle. He tried everything to save that North Carolina’s ass many times, but there was no saving that player.

The Amagis 140mm get improved dispersion, the same as found on Massachusetts, which is why secondary amagi works. TBH it should be called "Japanese secondary dispersion" because japanese 140mm on Amagi and Nagato were the first secondaries to get that dispersion.

I dont play these games anymore. But watching them and listening to jingles really brings me back to the good old days when Id grind WOT console after school for hours on end. Love you jingles! thanks for always putting out these videos! It really helps me sleep at night.

I swear Richelieu has the trolliest armor in the game. Several full salvos from Amagi gun at 16-11km range, not a single citadel. It's not enough that it zooms around like a destroyer, it also has a Schrödinger's citadel.

The real misplay was from the NC who should have disengaged and headed back to their own base with the CV. All they had to do was stay alive for four minutes. Clump together for overlapping AA and keep distance from the dd and it would have worked.

Remember to always blame the fighters at the end of the battle for not doing a smidge better and totally ignore those who sailed broadside to a battleship or sailed in the same course and speed. I dont even play this game and i know that.

If WG didn't have a deep hatred for secondaries there would be plenty of ships that would be good to even have some of the secondary skills to make them fun to use and more reliable against smaller ships than just using your main guns. In WG's eyes for battleships you either have decent secondaries or really good guns but not both, but for cruisers and DDs they can have the complete package and have 2 or 3 aspects that make them really strong beyond just armor and guns on battleships. I think all battleships should have adequate enough secondaries(ofcourse they need the guns) that it makes it a threat to be in close range and spotted to a battleship, and the battleships that specialize in having really good secondary suites(german, french, italian bbs) should be terrifying to be within range. Only reason why I add italian bbs is cause they literally have the guns from the light cruisers on the ships and WG shafts them on both secondary ranges and AA, but that makes no sense.

The issue with WoWs is that watching youtube vids of it is far more an enjoyable experience than actually playing the game.

Note: Amagi's 140mm casemate secondaries, like those on other IJN BBs at T7 and 8, have Massachusetts dispersion, thus why it's not a horrendous idea to build secondary on these ships. It's hardly optimal by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not as bad as it would otherwise be (this is according to some admittedly slightly outdated secondary charts, but I doubt it has changed)

Jingles the Amagi has a turtleback, it's not great, but under 8km no one can citadel you, it's actually quite an ok brawler, if you play it right.

Important question, is he going for Secondary accuracy OR using the secondary range to get his main guns to reload faster? Cus that IS a thing you can do.

I love how everyone always rushes to blame the CV player in chat, especially after dying doing something incredibly stupid. Are carriers overpowered, yes; can they win/lose a game by themselves, no. No one can. I once played a Hakuryu game where my team abandoned all 3 caps even though we only lost 3 ships (it was a twelve ship game). By the 12 minute mark, we were all huddled in the back corner of the map, and the chat was nothing but everyone blaming me for not doing their jobs for them. Bit of a rant, but still, my point stands.

I love that, right before the ship is destroyed, in the midst of the bombs slamming into his deck, one of the entire planes just also plants nose-first into his superstructure. I know it doesn't do anything but it's still hilariously timed, since it's just after the bombs land and it makes it look like that plane _did_ deal the killing blow.

Little known fact, IJN 140mm casemate guns have massa/german BC accuracy as they used to be armed with AP.

I MEAN, As long as you can get DECENT range on your secondaries and they can Pen DDs (which usually requires 120mms or so without IFHE) I see no reason to TRY a secondary build, not saying its a GRATE idea, but it is a FUN idea. And isn't that why we play World of Warships? For Fun and memes? Edit: The Pobada did nothing wrong their, the North Carolina on other hand was a useless idiot.

If theres one thing I learned from my time playing CV's is that if there is a CV on the team and anything goes wrong at any point during a match the CV is automatically blamed for it regardless of how well the team or CV is doing. CV are a popular scapegoat for when shit goes wrong in WOWS.

"Secondary build Amagi" - good lord... that brings me back to times before WG butchered the secondary builds - when they were perfectly doable and fine on other ships than just German battleships and selected few American ones. Remember the times when Secondary Build Yamato was a thing? Or Secondaries on French battleships didn't suck ass? Hell, when I was first grinding the Japanese BBs, I intended to go for secondary build on Yama. I still remember this insane battle I had in Secondary Build Nagato, chat called me insane for doing what I did... Because I went brawling... with 3 destroyers, as the last team member alive. And won. The fact that these guys were horrible at launching torps and came at me one at the time certainly helped, but still.

I kinda feel for that CV. I'm a german BB main. one time I tried playing a zeppy. I have no clue how to do stuff despite people saying playing CV is easy. there was 3 dds in both team and yet they keep pressuring me to spot for the whole team + expect me to always have fighters for them while they make the most stupid yolo plays. did my best. ended up with 2 ks and the last one standing. we lost that game. my teammates in a division reported me because I didnt play the way they wanted in a random battle..wtf

Is it just me or is that the scientifically-proven therapeutic effect I am feeling from hearing Akizuki purring in the background?

Years ago during one of the free captain respec times I did an IFHE secondary build and captain spec on the Lyon. That build wrecked cruisers and DDs. I farmed so many credits in Operation Narai with Lyon and Scharn secondary builds. If it would have had the secondary range of the Tirpitz then it would have been my permanent Lyon build.

Japanese 100mm guns have 30mm of pen, which when I last checked was not a quarter of 100. The 140mm casemate guns on the Nagato and Amagi have enhanced accuracy as well. It's not quite Massachusetts level but it's far better than most.

Great video and review, although I dislike cvs due to the way they are at current, he certainly did nothing wrong, the North Carolina was far worse too the team, and I have always said this the main reason for a team losing most of the time is your bottom 3 players at the end of the game.

I’ve been playing with amagi a lot lately, and I got surprised by the secondaries. Not only are they accurate and hit pretty hard, i’ve found they set a ton of fires (or maybe i’m just lucky, idk). I even got two secondary kills in a single ranked game without even having a secondary build

What we see here was a enemy Tirpitz Noob and a North Carolina Noob. But a good player in his Pobeda. He saved the day.

100% the NC neaqrly costing the game there. The carrier waas fine. Went after the DD. DD smoked. Somehow found the DD again afterwards and finished it off. All the NC had to do, was disengage from the DD, turn south and potentially even claim the kill on the enemy CV as it went down the 7-8 lines. If he did so, I feel the CV might have also assited with some damage and spotting, rather than trying to find the DD for the NC.

Love my secondary Shikishima! Everyone likes to hate on a Yamato class brawler, but with a 20 second reload, and secondaries that make some Germans blush, Shiki really is a fun ship.

i think i ran a secondary nagato at one point back in the USA vs Japan era of the game.. it actually slaugthered cruisers of the tier pretty well.. i think it had AP secondaries at the time?? been many years now, can't recall really. Game has changed so many times.

Worth noting that the Amagi Brilliant Park also has improved torpedo protection and (from what I've heard) a Japanese turtleback armor.

CV being blamed doesn't surprise me. There are some big and popular streamers who have been ridiculously toxic about cvs, and it has poisoned the playerbase's opinion about cvs. I recently saw a clip of Flamu going apeshit over a Minotaur only shooting down 2 Roosevelt planes at max range, completely ignoring the fact that he made a Roosevelt piss his pants trying to GTFO of that wall of AA... with his remaining squadron barely hanging together by a thread...

Amagi was actually the secondary brawler to go to once upon a time since it had long range fast reloading secondaries, could only be overmatched by the Yamato, damn near impossible to citadel up close and didn't at all suffer as badly from fire spam.

I love the Amagi, I've had tons of fun battles in her. I see little wrong with a secondary build Amagi, 10k range is fairly solid imo and it's got enough to make any DD think twice about getting close, though I would say a lot of those shots would have been more punishing had they been running the reduced dispersion ability.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your commentary. I liked it so much I started playing WOWs...and all I can say is how much I wish I could get the time I spent into the game back. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago, and as I started to grind in the US set of ships, I realized two things. 1. I was having way more fun in tier III and IV matches because... 2. the US tier V - IX ships are terrible! Nobody wants to have shells take 13 seconds to travel, a 30 second reload, and turrets that move about as slow as Joe Biden reading a teleprompter. Such an unfortunate scenario because I liked the gameplay, and the graphics. But they call this a strategy game, and when you see the enemy team run their destroyer aground at 39 knots, with no damage or penalty, I call total BS on this being a true strategy game. Why is there no consideration for limitations on how much ammo you store in your ship with a reload location in the back of the map? If you're going to make the cruisers thin skinned and weak in the guns, then make it maneuverable, stealthy with some freaking torps PLEASE!!! lol Maybe instead of trying to push out new ships or nerfing the one thing a ship had going for it (US ship of course) the Devs can open up a history book or two, and apply the historical values and battle proven statistics. But I think I get it, the majority of the user community is not US based...so the better ships won't be found there because this group seems to be more focused on the money than something that resembles a modestly accurate portrayal of WWII battles as sea.... So all that, and I've uninstalled the game. But your video commentary is great!!! lol

I think the CV did nothing wrong, and as for the NC, their main sin was not helping out in the west for the entire beginning of the battle. Going for the cap at the end was the wrong choice, but it was only marginally worse than the only other option of running. In their calculation, between a CV and DD, they were going to get sunk one way or another. By running for the cap, they at least point blocked the enemy team (~23 points, though they really should survived longer and blocked for more) so that their eventual sinking would be less impactful. In the end, the point gap made that 23 points irrelevant, but if you judge that the NC's sinking is inevitable, it's at least understandable and defensible to go for the cap.

Amagi has a turtleback and an underwater citadel. You usually cannot citadel an amagi in CQC situaltions, at least with same tier ships. Even heavy hitters like NC will struggle to do a lot Also: one thing the carrier player did do wrong: He played a carrier
