Thirty seven years after the world’s worst nuclear disaster, an incredible population of dogs remains in Chernobyl. The descendants of pets left behind, these animals represent a unique opportunity to study how mammals are affected by low-level radiation. YOU can help this effort RIGHT NOW.

Though if the perception around nuclear power and fossil fuels were swapped we'd probably have the exact same kind of issue of rising levels of The Bad Thing causing increasigly more and more problems. @@corbis7765 What kind of nonsensical comment even is that? You know water is needed in the human body right? but yet, human bodies don't exactly fare well when submerged in water. Too much of anything is bad, and as it stands, we're significantly elevating levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with industrial activity, while removing much of the biomass that stores that carbon dioxide through deforestation. Historically, the Earth's atmosphere has had more than three times the carbon it has now, and at that point most of the Earth was a giant scorching hot swampy fuckin' jungle, as evidenced by fossil records.

I think the studies have another benefit to society - by seeing how the dogs and cats are doing, it gives another window of knowledge into other disasters such as Fukushima to help understand their issues as well. Knowledge is powerful, and thankfully we have people like Kyle doing his utmost to get that information out there to us all - unlike the modern media (not bashing, simply stating a fact). We saw the misinformation that was done on 3 Mile Island, so these studies and reports help us learn and hopefully better understand the complexities.

Fascinating how these animals survived and are seemingly unaffected by this radiation. Can't wait to hear the official report.

I can't help but feel extremely inspired by this project and your constant promotion of it. So many things to be learned because of it. Hopefully, it will help to change how humans think about our part in the ecosystem (the part about humans actually being worse for the ecosystem than the radiation), how we should act as stewards for the life on our planet, potentially reducing the fear of nuclear energy, and to cap it all off, science for the sake of knowing. I love your channel, I love those doggos, and I love how this makes me feel.

As someone who has been subbed for a very long time due to my interest in nuclear power and the both amazing and sad stories behind it, (was a supporter before i found you. even more so after watching almost all of your videos) I will be donating, and it is purely because you did that last bit and it made me cry

I used to be a huge science student, the Chernobyl disaster was one of the things that really peaked my interest, with the wildlife in the region, with some of the life having environmental radiation, it’s like a double edge sword version of photosynthesis in my opinion, when I think of this I’m just crazy lol, but when something seeks some type of nurturing or energy, they seek it. The dogs really show us theres hope in the darkest of places. Thank you for this video and sorry for my analogy!

I would of suffered Mental Trauma if I was told (after evacuation) that I would not be allowed to go back and see my dogs/cats/birds etc ever again. My dogs are so spoilt, I would of worried myself sick and been guilt ridden. The beautiful thing about this story is that some of these cats and dogs definitely survived and their offspring are as cute and healthy as ever.❤

I first heard about the Chernobyl puppies a couple of years ago, and I was so sad thinking about all those sweet little puppers who never got to have scritches and pet pets, through no fault of their own. 😢

I'm definitely going to help!!! My girl, Champurrada, died three months ago from cancer. All those good boys look a lot like her, and they all deserve a second chance. We rescued Champurrada from the streets when she hadn't even opened her eyes. Her mother had been poisoned, and the puppies were left alone in a hole on the ground. We took care of her, supposedly until she could be able to eat by herself... But we fell in love with her. She was a good girl, and maybe she was with us only for 7 years, but we will have her in our hearts forever 🥲🥲🥲🥲 ❤

The list of things I'd like to do with my life if I ever heal enough from my chronic health issues to work enough to earn enough is very long, but one important thing is that I would be able to give to causes I care about - and this would be one of them!
