Recently the Lord has been taking me through a hard lesson. I've really struggled to be a good "keeper at home" and we've just lived in such a hectic and messy house with myself just having more work than I can handle. I was so discontent and miserable when I read an article written about the story in the New Testament where Jesus is on a boat with his disciples and they get into a storm. They wake him up very afraid they will die, and he rebukes them for not having faith. I realized we think that Jesus wants us to be in calm waters, He wants everything to go well for us. That's not it, Jesus wants us to have faith in Him, and therefore peace in Him, despite being on a sinking ship! Truly it is the peace that passes all understanding!

It’s pretty clear in scripture where the hearts of men were. The religious leaders already decided if anyone claimed to be the Christ they would be put to death. And others did indeed come to Him only for provision and not relationship. I used to tell people all the time that if God wasn’t going to save us of our sins and decided we all deserve death and Christ never died for us, He would still deserve all the praise. But the fact is He did die for us to cover us and that means relationship is greater reward.

💯 Mike is right on it. Way too many of our brethren see Jesus from the, "what have you done for me lately?" or "what can you do for me now?" attitudes. It is heartbreaking. This is one of the reasons why I affirm Total Depravity. All creation testifies of the majesty of our Holy Triune God. We resist the obvious Truth. We resist His continuing work in us. O wretched man that I am. Thanks be to God that He is merciful and long suffering for our sake, desiring all to repent and be saved. They say God has a new plan for your life,as though you are never going to have any problems ever again, but everyone will have trials and seasons of dryness etc and if they have told you that God is going to be in control of everything and fix everything for you, when the difficulty comes,it makes you even doubt your salvation.

There's a bit of counter-intuitive irony in this when looking at a societal whole from the individual state though... A community cannot be healthy without healthy individuals and an immature selflessness will completely ignore oneself with too much emphasis toward others which places a greater burden on others and lacks personal responsibility which ends up in a potential blind selfishness. Knowing oneself thoroughly allows recognition therein, and one only has the capacity to set oneself aside to the extent of that recognition. This portion of self recognized, can then either be given to God through Christ (primarily) and others (subsequently, or primarily without God) or held onto selfishly. Ecclesiastes 7:15-20... 🤔

Sometimes what seems selfless at first can cause selfishness and what seems selfish at first is mature selflessness... "The first are last and last are first" in a means of paradoxical selfishness and selfishness...

The only true that is not a myth about "christmas" is that the Concerned One WASN'T BORN ON THE DAY OF WHICH WE CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY. But thanks to God we have liberty for celebrations in Christ discerning; "One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. Romans 14:5-6 Just remind to THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO CELEBRATE, NOT TO JUDGE THOSE WHO WON'T CELEBRATE THE 25TH OF DECEMBER. Because the verses are crystal clear : "ANOTHER ESTEEMS EVERYDAY ALIKE. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind." Don't forget that we have freedom in Christ for those things.
