I was literally driving in my car today and saw one of these on the side of the road and thought wow the worst thing you could possibly do would be to go off the road and hit that! And now KZfaq shows me exactly that...hmmm? Listening KZfaq?

Jasper, Tx James Byrd being dragged behind a truck for being black. They were swerving back and forth slinging him wide, poor Mr. Byrd slid off the road way and hit a culvert like that. It stopped his body but separated his head. Those culverts can be man killers. On a side note, Texans don’t tolerate that sort of nonsense and the two racist pieces of S$&T have been plant food for a long time now. Lethal injections and they got to go meet their maker.

I had a nasty spill when I low sided my BMW after a lady pulled out in front of me, I ended up hitting a curb, which then high sided me, sending me flying through the air😂. I got up, brushed myself off and still ride to this day. That was about 40 years ago and fortunately, I enjoyed wisdom at a young age opting to wear all the gear, all the time!👍🏻👍🏻

Wrecked same way. Got tossed into a parked car in such a way that they found me twisted up mangled underneath it..Broke 8 ribs,Broke my back, broke my wrists, compound fractured my femur, broke my foot, broke my pelvis and messed the joint area where your spine connects to your pelvis and had road rash all over my body. My heart stopped 3 times they said. Had to have untold amount of blood pumped into me because I was loosing blood faster than they could put it in me. Was bed ridden for a whole year. good ole times.

Had a new rider on an R1 do this exact same thing trying to keep up with me. I thought he was going to die. He barely missed hitting a telephone pole while flying through the air just like the guy in the video. This type of wreck is a classic newbie mistake. Folks would do well to start out on smaller displacement bikes and work their way up. It’s horrible to watch a fellow rider make a mistake like this.

Lost a friend in high school. He couldn’t even really handle a Honda 70 trail bike. But he bought an 1100 Honda hurricane. Lasted one month and one day before he killed his idiot self by going too fast around a curve showing off and head first into a giant maple tree when he hit loose gravel and wet leaves and the bike went out from under him. I was working for the local undertaker as an apprentice/Helper. I picked his body up at the scene and later helped prepare him for viewing. We literally had to pull his helmet and head out of his chest cavity. I will never forget the horrified look on his dead face when we got the helmet off. I had nightmares for months and couldn’t ride for a couple years because of it. We all told him how he would end if he didn’t stop acting like an idiot but he laughed it off😢

Just lost my ex uncle in-law to a motorcycle accident last month. He was an awesome guy, he took his bike out for a night drive alone like usual, swerved to avoid something in the road, possibly a animal, possibly another car no one knows. He was found hours later by gps by loved ones. To all the bike riders out there, your family loves you and we understand the love for bikes but please find a ride partner/group if you can, avoid night driving if possible people are stupid nowadays. Be safe and come home after the fun.

Very very sorry to hear this. I often go for night rides, and I’m always thinking about panicky animals that suddenly scamper across the road out of nowhere. If it’s a type of animal you love such as someone’s pet dog, it puts you in a very difficult situation, an almost impossible situation. Around here we have a lot of feral cats concentrated in an area that do this every day. It’s nerve wracking and dangerous. Anyway, just wanted to say, very sorry for your loss mate.

100%, my beginners luck ran out at 7 months, crashed at 70mph on a corner I thought I could take 10 more mph. Took that corner everyday to work and as soon as I saw that I got better and could hang, I couldn’t because I thought I was ready to handle it.

@@joshrandall3632 oh yeah man healed up after about a month and bought a ‘19 Indian Scout Bobber, sold it recently, looking to get into dirt bikes. But yeah I agree 100%. Honestly one of the best lessons I’ve had in life and I’m grateful to walk away from that crash. It taught me a whole lot that’s for sure.

I'm a motorcycle safety instructor. If you are uncomfortable on a motorcycle then ride in a parking lot and then backroads slowly until you are not nervous and take a coarse. This didn't have to happen the person just got scared and froze up instead of turning 🤯

Most states require side drain end treatments rather than leaving the blunt end of a pipe exposed such as this one. However, leaving the roadway and hitting anything is never a good thing.

I stopped riding years ago. while I was riding on HWY 9 in Santa Cruz Mtns. I rode up on an accident. The dude blew a corner. He laid it down went under an oncoming car. Unfortunately his head was still high enough to to impact the bumper while the rest of his body went under the car. The woman was screaming and crying. His helmet was still on but there was a river of blood coming out of it and running across the road. He was obviously unresponsive. someone took his pulse and there was none. Cars started backing up. No one dared take off his helmet because we knew what happened in there. Sheriff finally showed and as I was leaving I realized I had to ride through the 3" wide river of blood from his helmet that flowed across the lane. The flow had slowed by this point. I got home feeling sick to my stomach. Blood was splattered under my fenders. I sold my bike a few months after. I still trail ride enduros but no more street riding. The images of that day are still vivid in my head. RIP whoever you were.

For those talking about the boot in the air, what happened is the impact was so great on that foot, it ripped the BOOT off of his leg/foot. He didn't lose any appendages as far as I'm aware, it was simply a horrendous crash that tore everything else around him apart, just smacked him around a lot.

All you need is to be tired just enough to lose focus, get stuck staring at something for no reason, and BAM. Down you go. I've been riding for 15 years and I still catch myself getting target fixation on long rides. Particularly when I'm passed the halfway mark coming home.

This is a perfect example of target fixation. Motorbikes go where you look it’s weird but true. It’s really easy to say when you’re not in that situation, but if he’d had looked past the corner and leaned over he would have made it, but like I say it’s easy to talk when you’re not in the heat of the moment.
