I can think of a few scenarios for this: a) This guy isn't trying at all, he just wanted to get on television and maybe make fun of the show while he's at it. Musical ability remains unknown. b) He simply never actually learned to play guitar or sing and was given the screen time because they wanted to make fun of him for entertainment. c) This could be taken as a pretty postmodern or maybe avant-garde approach to a mashup of two popular songs. In all these situations, I don't see anything that this guy did wrong, here. Whether he tried or not, he made fun of the show, and that's great. These judges should get their heads out of their asses.

No matter how bad his performance was, making a mockery of him on live television wasn't right. You could argue that he knew what he was signing up for or that he was bad on purpose to become famous but my criticism is applicable to the show in general. No performers should be humiliated like that. This show is perhaps one of the biggest and most memorable things that will happen in the contestants' lives and the impact this would have on a sensitive individual's health is jarring to think about. All these "idol" (they do really call themselves that, huh?) shows feed off of the pleasure some get by watching someone be condescended. All for the joy of the masses I guess. What a shame.
@abysswatcher49072 жыл бұрын
It's a power unparallel, that is, when contestants say mean things to them or just complain, they fight back verbally, while when somebody behaves bad, they criticize unconstructively. Most shows are quite scripted these days. If you want everyone coming to the show to have skill, then at least give another round as buffer, otherwise please say words of encouragement. Anyway, I do believe true songwriters like Pink Floyd won't even bother to this show, or if they do, the audition will end violently.

Real musicians actually hate this show and other shows like it (x got talent, etc). They say it makes a mockery of music, musicians, and the music industry. But then again, if you perform in public and you suck @ss, people will say that you suck @ss. Like, you're putting yourself up for criticism.

It's the same idea, just different ways of saying it. Point is, if you decide to join a competition or perform in public, you are putting yourself up to be criticized or judged, and we can't really police how people tell you that you aren't good enough

He's either trolling the judges, or it's a scripted audition like 90% of every talent show ever and everybody in it are just good actors. Either way, this is quite an entertaining clip.

I think the vocals and the guitar go very well together. You can tell by the passion radiating from him that the years of practice have certainly paid off. What I'm really impressed by is how he effortlessly flowed from one song to the next. His voice kind of reminded me of Barbra Streisand with just a hint of Steve Perry in his prime. Personally I think he's a step above this type of competition. I'm not sure who the judges are but it's nice to see that they also are quite impressed. The best I've seen in quite a while. Nice work 👍

As someone who plays guitar I can tell you this was staged he actually knows how to play I can tell by his hand positioning but it’s still funny because I did the same thing starting out
@downhome75002 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I was thinking the same thing when they show his picking hand up close for a second. Not the first time he's held a pick. He may not be great but he's definitely better than what he's displaying here.

Yes but how would you keep a straight face?🤣

Yup. His picking and positioning and control give it away. He's intentionally mocking the show.

That's a classical guitar. When you see a guy with one of those as opposed to an acoustic like strummers and buskers use, he can usually actually play it. He's winding them up. I used to do this then break into a fast flamenco or classical piece.
@Laserkitten2 жыл бұрын
I’ve met people who bought a classical thinking that it was an acoustic, never judge a guitarist by their instrument, since they could’ve just picked up anything.
