ALWAYS YES. I still can't believe this was a ps3 game.

I tried playing dark arisen on ps4 in 2022 and it just didn't grab me after a few hours. I probably should give it another shot before Dragon's dogma 2 comes out.

Great video! I didn't see any footage of it, so in case you haven't explored Bitterblack Isle, the Dark Arisen expansion area, you should definitely check it out. Very fun and challenging mega-dungeon with some really cool gear.

neat! there's no way I'd be able to play this before DD2, so I might have to return to both of em in the future

I tried getting into the game about a few months ago and i can't bring myself to like it. combat is fun, pawns are definitely neat, but i couldn't get invested bc i felt like i wasted time walking to quest spots just to be met with a group of enemies that were just way too much for me to handle.

short answer, YES

Was a good game with many interesting ideas such as pawns despite their appalling AI that made them a hindrance as often as they were helpful. It could have used a better story though, something the sequel looks to have addressed. I always use a mod that allows you to run without consuming stamina. It makes getting around far less time consuming. The Eternal Ferrystone in the Dark Arisen version also helped with this.

There are a few good mods for it too, better than most games to this day.

I think it is worth it if you use running speed mods, or have a hotkey (like on PC) to spam mushrooms to increase stamina to keep running at full speed. Otherwise it is a lot of back and forth running that is very time-consuming. One of the reasons I am apprehensive about Dragon's Dogma 2 is the recent anti-mod stance of Capcom, I think people should be allowed to change single player games to take out some of the grind. Do we own the games we buy or not.
