Put them both on a scale and let’s see the weight difference. The wiseco didn’t need the extra machining because they didn’t use excess metal in their forge

the wiseco piston is anodized inside that's why it hard to spot machining work,

anodizing doesn't hide machining marks... it's easy to see it hasn't been machined

This is kind of interesting. When Wiseco sells a piston, they typically include piston rings made by NPR. I often see Wossner pistons sold with rings, but I don't know who makes the piston rings. Does Wossner make their own, or do they buy them from another manufacturer?

Woosner pistons I know of come with rings from the Japanese manufacturer Riken. www.riken.co.jp/english/

Cool! Thanks, I am weighing my options for my YZ465 at this moment. It's never been right since I got it, the last person to bore the cylinder went too far...same fellow did the same thing to one of my jugs before I bought the YZ. I did my first bore myself last year and I will NEVER send my jugs out again. So, I am gonna go through the big Yamaha this winter and give it a new top end.

Seems like even the Wossner could have had a lot more taken off, especially around the pin bosses..

At a certain point it's not worth it. It's difficult enough getting in there with any kind of CNC tooling. And I doubt having 5-10g saved would be worth another half an hour on a 5+ axis CNC. That would drive the price up by quite a lot
@Rx7man
@Rx7man 7 ай бұрын
@@Birb_of_Judge Half an hour? at the rate todays' CNC 5 axis machines move and remove material it's probably only a couple minutes more work

@@1Corinthians151to4, so, you just watched a video that shows a lot more work put into the wőssner product for weight reduction purposes, and you're pretending Wiseco is superior?🙄

@@markbest5127 it may be weight savings. However. How rigid is wossner. Wiseco has been around for a long time. Wossner may be light. But I don't think it can handle heat as well as wiseco.

pretty sure wiesco is made in taiwan now.. correct me if im wrong but i thought those cut outs where for oil to catch and lubricate
@aylorengineering.5513
@aylorengineering.5513 8 жыл бұрын
I don't know, haven't paid a lot of attention to Wisecos since the Wossners came out for the triples. As for the cut outs, when forging you cannot have any under cuts as the ram would not come out of the part, so that's why there is so much extra metal above the pin. Wossner just removes the unnecessary metal/weight.
