Thanks to these videos I retrieved my grandfather's Simonds No. 133 from a relative's boat house in Northern Ontario where it had hung on the wall for the last 50 years. The saw was purchased in the 30's or 40's when my grandfather had a sawmill making railroad ties for the Algoma Central Railroad. My father remember's using the saw in the 50's to clear the land for my grandfather's retirement house. Unfortunately, it's a bit rusty from it's time in the boathouse but I'm going to do my best to bring this historic tool back to life. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hello from WI. On the topic of saws, the one I am working on at the moment is from a friend. He called it the ''perfect'' saw because no teeth were missing. Well, what about the twisting, deep pitting, short teeth, messy gullets..? Worst saw ever. Most would throw it away. Not me. It's a ''Northern King'' falling saw by Marshall Wells co. in Duluth MN. 5' 6'', champion tooth, flat ground.

Tonight as a gift, my father gave me a crosscut saw. The handles are permanently attached. I wonder if that was added or if it is just another style manufactured. I think it's a treasure and I'm going to refurbish it.

You can still get crosscut saws. There are some German made ones that aren't bad.
