Despite giving out so many receipts Undertaker was notorious for having a great sense of humor at times. More than one wrestler has related a story where they get Taker in the corner accidentally stiff him with a punch and Takers would say under his breath “Damn son, do I owe you money or something “
@AuspexAO
@AuspexAO 3 ай бұрын
I totally get his mentality. The receipts are not only a way to correct bad form (Taker is notorious for wanting to teach people how to properly work) but it's also a way to keep things light and fair. You know when you pick up a foreign object, you could seriously harm someone, and knowing that you could have that receipt coming makes it even more serious for the wrestler using the prop.

The Rikishi one is so ridiculous. Its his own fault for turning the wrong direction. They blamed the guy for holding him. Then had the rest of the fam threaten and intimidate backstage despite them being wrong. Talk about tribal mentality.

Ok I'll be honest, I think one of the scariest things that I'm glad I'll never have to live through is hitting the undertaker a little too hard and then after a match he comes over to you and says in the softest of voices "don't worry, your receipt is coming." Not only would I shit myself right there and then but every second spent with the undertaker in the ring would be some of the most anxiety inducing moments of anyone's life.
@StealthMarmot_
@StealthMarmot_ 10 ай бұрын
Undertaker is smart. He knows that he can inflict a lot more by being patient and not even have to deliver that hard a hit at the end. By the end of it, you're relieved to take a hit. Wrestling is full of tough guys who take take a hit to the jaw, that's barely punishment. But when he makes them afraid or anxious for a while, that sinks it in.

Mark Calaway has older brothers. One brother, Mike, worked at the largest auto dealership in Grand Forks, ND, and would stop for a 6-pack of beer some evenings at the Rite Spot liquor store. I worked there at night and knew him as a customer. Mike is not a small man…but he is nothing like the Goliath his little brother is. Mike was always a nice, quiet man, and gave off no pretense whatsoever about his famous sibling. For many months, I had no idea of the relation, until the store owner randomly brought it up one day. The next time I saw Mike I looked at his eyes and face as he approached the counter and it all hit me like a chairshot receipt. This unassuming, middle-aged man who looked nothing like The Undertaker…looked exactly like The Goddamn Undertaker!! This quiet, nice man had the stone face and eyes of a man who could deliver a few receipts of his own, if provoked. As a wrestling fan, it was pretty damn surreal. I just acted like I had no idea who his brother was. It felt like the right way to play it.

Taker’s ‘receipt’ chair shot to Orton in their HIAC match wasn’t actually that stiff. He just let Orton spend the match thinking a proper receipt was incoming but ultimately delivered a very safe shot when the spot came. Psychological suffering can be far worse than physical and all that.

New Jack was not a victim in his story nor was he in anyway entitled to act that way, as you seem to imply at the beginning of his story. In my opinion, the guy was a psychopath and should’ve been kept far away from any kind of employment, where he is in the public, because as is evident in the clip, as well as in the longer interview from Darkside of the ring that that is from, his reactions were always unwarranted and often homicidal.

So you think it was cool for the guy to get all the way up there to only pull back last second causing New Jack to have cerebral fluid dripping out of his face and go blind in one eye? Would you feel the same if he fuckin died? There is objectively no argument that what dude did almost literally killed New Jack. Context is IRRELEVANT in the sense that yes New Jack has done fucked up shit loads of times but what was done to him in that specific moment was not his fault and he did do anything to that man that caused him to get inches away from killing Jack. New Jack being a dirt bag and not deserving that are NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE
@aysada

@@6tiple6ix6afia New Jack was wrong. Always. Every interview I’ve had the misfortune to watch has proven he has no business being in a ring with ANYONE. His perception of how someone else has allegedly hurt him or disrespected him is never proven nor would it be worthy of the type of reaction he has to it. His entire thought process was a series of synaptic misfires that made zero sense and his perspective was fucked up, to say the least. I’m not the only on here who feels that way and I would urge you to take your comment to them as I am 100% set on my dislike for New Jack.

The thing with Nia was she had injured a few women already by this incident and supposedly laughed it off because she was being protected by the Rock who we all know is her cousin. Charlotte was the women's locker room leader and dealt with it in the ring since Jaxx wouldn't even talk to her back stage. Jaxx injured Kairi once being unsafe, when Kairi came back she was given a welcome back concussion by none other than Jaxx which helped make her decision to leave the WWE even easier since Nia was so protected and couldn't be touched.

As Bubba and D'Von recount the story. They came into WWE and were booked with the Acolytes, knowing full well that Ron and John were going to be stiff because of what happened with the Public Enemy. The plan was 2x4s but as Bubba says, "To hit someone with a 2x4, make it look good and not hurt them is very hard to do because it's such an awkward thing." so they went to Ron Simmons and asked him, "Hey Mr. Simmons, you know instead of 2x4's we were thinking..." and Ron just cut them off and said, "You do know how to work a 2x4 don't you?" they just said, "Yes sir Mr. Simmons" and walked away. Bubba pulled D'von aside and said, "We're not working shit. Hit them as hard as you can and we'll deal with it later" because he knew they were gonna beat the shit out of them. Right after this, they got up, went back to the locker room, shook hands and said thank you and everything was cool.

The Vader/Michaels story really got to me and just shows the horrible and painful effects of bullying. Vader from those interview clips seems like a genuinely decent human being. But even a 400+ lb behemoth of a man who is so tough that he literally finished a match with his eyeball sticking out wasn’t immune to emotional abuse and was left crying from the toxic bullying of Michaels that was further condoned by WWE leadership. It’s sad that his career pretty much got derailed by one petty individual. No wonder Michaels found God. I found this one quote from Jim Cornette that pretty sums it up about Michaels: “And if you found God, that’s generally because I’ve noticed, people in this business that find God do so when everybody else hates them so bad they won’t speak to ’em.” RIP Vader.

the kofi vs orton one is probably the most famous case of orton's horrific anger management ruining a very minimal thing. orton wanted to use the punt but kofi forgot whether it was the rko finish or the punt finish so set himself up for the rko instead, and as such orton dumpstered kofi's career up to that point. one of the dumbest moments in wrestling history
@alifnovaldi5195
@alifnovaldi5195 10 ай бұрын
Iirc, at that time, Orton Punt Kick is heavily protected where no wreslte can come back wrestling in a few weeks after receiving it. The plan is for Kofi to receive Punt Kick only to back wrestling in a week or two, showing how strong he is. Thus, Kofi's mistake actually changes the intended storyline

On the Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold and Kurt Angle, he explained the event a little better that Eddie’s heart wasn’t good. No one knew, not even Eddie himself knew why he could get up to speed as he should in the ring. After that match he was pissed off and took it out on Kurt thinking he was stiffing him, pushed him three times, and tried to double hook Kurt. Same scuffle Kurt got the little man’s syndrome when Big Show grabbed him by the back of his tights with one arm to separate both Eddie and Kurt. Kurt says “Don’t you ever grab me by my tights again!” Then they went fighting again a second time with Big Show breaking it up a second time! 🤣 Sad part is that if Eddie saw the symptoms before hand of his heart giving out during the matches when we saw the moments in matches of him having that far away look early in matches he could’ve lasted several more years with a heart transplant.

That wasn't the receipt though. According to Mark Henry, the receipt for Ahmed's kick that did internal organ damage came in a dark match. The agents knew well ahead of time they weren't going to show what was about to happen on TV. But it was a sellout at the curtain. Everyone wanted to see Ron Simmons send Ahmed out of the business that night. The entire locker room had had enough of his BS.

Fun fact, stevie richards has come out in recent years debunking the revenge theory surrounding his chair shot to Bradshaw. As the story goes Bradshaw told richards to swing the chair hard. Following this he was confronted by the Deadman who wanted to clear up any possible locker room drama. Richards then informed taker of what had gone down and insured that nothing of taht nature had taken pkace taht night. Ironically, after this Richards was told by Bradshaw that he should do local press claiming that he did it on purpose which gained him heat with the undertaker. After the appearances he was onve again confronted by taker who was only convinced that Richards hadn't done anything in spite of his comments when both Stevie and JBL informed taker of the gull story. Im sorry to anyone who loves this story of heightened drama, but unfortunately its just one of those tall tales in wrestling.

I'll never be complicit with "revenge" but Ahmed was notoriously an asshole and had a reputation for being dangerous to work with. He tried to pick a fight backstage with HHH, he tried to pill Mark Henry when they were out to dinner, there isn't a wrestler alive that worked with him that has anything good to say about him. As Mark Henry recounts it on Stone Cold's podcast, which if you haven't listened to you should, just search Mark Henry Ron Simmons; Ahmed kicked Ron Simmons and lacerated his liver shelving him for 9 months. After 9 months when Ron came back the card was Ron Simmons v Ahmed Johnson, he beat Ahmed so bad he ran him out of the business. Ahmed was crazy over due to his physique and intensity but he was carried by his opponents and wasn't a good enough wrestler to go to WCW, so he ended up leaving the business entirely
