For this video, we’re not simply reviewing and comparing cars. We’re also choosing-with an actual buyer-a car to purchase. Welcome to Wrong Car/Right Car.
Therese is our guest in the first video episode of this OG Top Gear Philippines format, and she’s looking at subcompact crossovers. Her shortlist coming in to the shoot was the Honda HR-V, the Kia Stonic, and the Toyota Raize, but upon arriving at the final dealership, she saw a Yaris Cross on display and decided to take a look at it instead. These crossovers have different strengths, and we, along with Therese’s boyfriend Algin, took a close look at each one to see which best suits her needs.

Kung options to test drive and choose car, its practical to stick with the consideration of budget first. Kasi for sure mas lalamang sa features ung car models na mas mataas ung presyo. In all fairness sa stonic with the price budget of 1M, okay na okay. But to compare it with much expensive na HrV at Yaris Cross, for sure mabebehind ung stonic. Ika nga, its not apples to oranges. Though if you have a budget to spare, go for what makes you happy and pasok sa lifestyle. Budget aside with the 3 options, Yaris has more value for money 👌

Exactly. Sana man lang at least 2 cars within the budget. You can't compare a sub-1M car with 1.6M cars. Apples and oranges. Top Gear wag niyo na to uulitin hahaha

Another big plus for me and sa tingin ko ay sa karamihan na madaming bibit, bukod sa power lift gate, meron syang sensor na you just put your foot under the lift gate and it will automatically open. Very convenient kung both hands mo ay occupied ng stuff like groceries. At meron syang dash cam.

30secs inside the Yaris cross V in the show room and I know HRV pipiliin ko. HRV-S is good if d mo naman need ng turbo and compare sa yaris mas malakas padin engine ng HRV-S. exterior design no question ask HRV din. sa enterior naman bilhan nalang ng leather seat si HRV-s goods na. we were initially eyeing the BRV because its a 7seater pero nong nakita namin HRV, un mas pinili namin. XD

Sa power HRV, s presyo sobra mhal pero dpa power lift gate no sunroof, mas mkitid cya kysa s yariz, mgnda nman honda lalo n ULT , pero kng s presyo lng at advance feature, mas lamang s Yariz V for me,, lalo n ung hybrid, pero kng top of the line n HRV compare, xmpre HRv na.. turbo na.. kso tanong, lalamon ng gas un, ska nsa 1.7 milyon un.. 😅

HRV S .. Ang choice ko kaso wala sa options.. Medio cluttered ang yaris cross, particular din sa design ng steering. Iyon kc ang pinaka malimit iinteractan sa sasakyan.

@top gear Philippines. Ask ko lang po if yung toyota yaris v and hev have the same adaptive cruise control low speed like on honda hrv?

Yes. May adaptive cruise control ang V at HEV variant. At sa akin ay mas maraming premiums ang Toyota Cross especially yung power lift gate na merong automatic lift gate. At there are 5 total cameras sa V at HRV variant and sa airbags ay mas madami ang sa Cross kesa HR-V.

Meron pa syang lane departure at brake assist. At sobrang dami ng sensors. Believe me, kase kakabili ko lang ng Yaris Cross V variant.

Yes,, same features ng honda sensing, lahat ng nkaloob dun same s Toyota safety sensing.. tpos may 360 digree camera pa s Yariz s hakaga 1.3 mlyon lng,, lift gate nsdn.. i dnt know s top the line ng hrv kng may 360 ndn.. kso nsa 1.7 mlyon n un if merun😅

If ito ung choices based on the criteria ng price ( 1M ) and crossover segment i would recommend Kia stonic, its a good daily driver essentially elevated hatchback sya. But if shes willing to explore other brands which she should consider ang dami option namely raize coolray, cs35, zs tiggo 2, tiggo 5x pro. At the end of the day choose what makes you happy and what suits your needs.

Para sakin hrv ako, matipid din naman sa gas 25km per liter at power full, 175 horsepower and 240 newton mt, kompara sa yaris ang baba lang ng power at gawa ng Daihatsu na may issue pang lumabas ngayon

Well obiously subcompact crossover nga ang title ng videos. Sa mga nag bla bla bla bakit di sinama ang xl7, rush, at ibang 7 seaters, hahaha crossover nga eh.. tsaka kahit ako HRV at YARIS CROSS din ang top list ko. Alam nyo nman kung bakit.. napaka reliable ng brand pareho. At syempre yung design at style eh pang mga design sa europian. Oo given na nasa 1.6 ang top of the line atleast pogi at reliable.

Literally umangkas lang talaga yung Agent ng Toyota compare sa Agent ng Honda and it is more of a plus factor sana kung marunong yung Agent. My agent, Renee Ancheta of Toyota Quezon Avenue would make Miss Therese decided na even before pa ang test drive.

If the young lady was really choosing her car. This not the proper way of choosing cars. Smh. The choices are all over the place. Why did they even stop at the Yaris Cross? Why not the Corolla Cross? The poor Stonic wasn' even top of the line. Why no HRV S? Terrible and chaotic.

if you're coming from a vios those cars aren't much of an upgrade, especially the stonic and raize. in fact the sedan is still the most practical format for daily driving, separate trunk compartment is a plus, and the aerodynamics saves a lot of fuel on the expressway. corolla altis has 6 airbags. honda city RS has 6 airbags and honda sensing. i'm not impressed w/ the ground clearance on the hr-v and yaris-cross, not gonna help much during a flood

If 1.6M ang budget ang choices ay HRV na top of the line at Corolla Cross Hybrid, Yaris Cross Hybrid & Hyundai Tucson.

Base model HRV S - 1.39M. HRV V - 1.65M mid variant. Top of the line RS is 1.74M. You can buy one chinese brand CSUV & Wigo for the price of TOTL😀

It’s mentioned naman towards the end na initial options talaga stonic vs raize. I guess they opened up the options to more expensive models because malaki yung buffer nya sya budget.

Mali na isinama sa list si Kia Stonic kasi price range yan ng Sedan tapos ang dame sinasabi na wala compare sa yarris at hrv, natural mente naman 😅. I-kumpara ba naman ang 1M car sa 1.5-1.6M car na Yarris at HR-V.

The XL7, Ertiga, and Toyota Rush aren't bad options if the budget is at 1M. I wonder why they weren't on her shortlist, considering that the XL7 and Ertiga are spacious, efficient, and have good interiors (especially the XL7) vs the Stonic. They fit her criteria. There's also the Coolray, Veloz, and MG ZS, perhaps even the Changan CS 35 Plus. Additionally, although almost the same size as her current car, the Almera and Emgrand are a huge step up from a 2017 Vios. The Yaris Cross non-hybrid really is worth the extra P200k. The HR-V looks awkward without the rear handle and is just weirdly shaped. While it does look modern and up scale, at that price, the Ford Territory takes the cake.

Toyota is always a very good buy because of better after sales support and reliability of vehicles. I wouldn't say the same for KIA, I owned one before. Honda is pricey of course.

At 1.6m, you should consider chery tiggo 5x hybrid at a much lower price with all the features and premium feel of the interior. None of the cars featured in the video can beat it.
