Indiana State Police say they're having issues with dozens of their newly purchased patrol vehicles, and they are feeling the impact of it! The department began transitioning from Dodge Chargers to Dodge Durangos and that's transition has been anything but smooth.

Even the hemi was a garbage engine... mostly all of them ticked (hemi tap) or ate lifters if it had AFM on it!

dont they know they have to last at least 6 years or they will be paying for all this on warranty not that they will give new engines easily or not try to sketch out on the real fix. I believe when they start making parts in china, china says how about seals too, we will cut your american made seal cost in half.

It's all cars today, the emission requirements make cars too complicated and easy to break. Add to that the complexity of repairing them and the lack of manufacturing in America and you end up with this mess. Which is why Trump wanted to force manufacturing back to America. It was like the man knew what was coming.

Sad part is those Durango's have had that oil cooling issues since 2015.. 2 rubber o'rings go bad and it starts dumping oil on the intake, When you run out of oil it overheats and you destroy the head gaskets.. Engine Junk..

These Durangos have 5.7 engines the oil cooler is added as part of the special service package and is threaded on to the oil filter location and the oil filter is the threaded on to it. This is in no way the same as the cooler on the v6.

Crown Victoria's were the most durable police cars I've got a 96 that is still on it's original engine and is dependable with almost 300,000 miles on it I've put 185000 miles on it personally .

@@cigarsgunsandgasoline8032 500 Tahoe PPV's? comes to $37,500,000. More than the Ford at $57,000 a pop the Tahoe PPV is $75,000 a pop. That's why Police departments don't order as many Tahoe PPV's. There too expansive for Police agencies like Indiana. They're too broke to afford 500 Tahoe PPV's.

They're too poor to have good reliable stuff. That's what you can afford in a poor state like Indiana. Oh well. Knew that wasn't going to end well. Nail in the coffin for the Hemi.

The amount of money that the government spent on those vehicles for them to be defective. I would be going after the vehicle supplier and telling them, you're going to fix the issue, even if it's a new engine or you can forget about ever having a contract for police vehicles ever again. Guaranteed they would fix all of them

So Dodge killed the Charger because they can make more money selling the more expensive Durango? Corporate greed! They already had steady customers from the younger fast driving public into muscle cars to entire law enforcement agencies in both the US & Canada. Law enforcement usually buy fleet vehicles which is very profitable for a vehicle manufacturer but Stellantis ruined that. They had the winning recipe and blew it with this crappy suv that can’t perform reliably for a solid 3 years on patrol without major mechanical failure.🤦‍♂️

Stellantis should open a large portable garage shop and hire 10-20 top Mopar mechanics that have replaced the oil coilers and pay them what a Union scale wage would make per hour to get these vehicles repaired andback on the road!! Stellantis designed these fleet to meet or exceed harsh operations. It's not only the Dodge Durango having these issues. There should be a recall on any 3.6 vehicle from 2018 up using these plastic coolers!!!

Well their first mistake was buying dodges!! This isn’t a new problem with the oil coolers, so it should come as no surprise that they are defective.

Who puts a polymer oil cooler/ oil filter housing inside of an engine ?? My 2013 challenger has one that only recently failed but it's left me walking now looking at an Expensive Repair & an Expensive Yard ornament. Dorman Makes an Aluminum replacement part for this problem.

I get that Dodge and the HEMI are powerful. But If law enforcement is smart, They'll think of other ways to catch there suspects. It's not how many horses you have. It's how you use it. Besides They didn't have to replace the hole fleet with unusable Dodge Durango's. And I'll even give credit where credit is due and say of course The Hemi is more powerful. But at a cost like this $$$. I'll be in the Ford or Chevy Tahoe PPV If I were them. Cut there contract with Dodge and get the Ford Police Pursuit Utility like the rest of the other agencies. Or Not buy 516 of the same car. That's a good one.

If you think it is expensive to pay the professionals, wait until you have to pay the amateurs. You get what you pay for.

So, did they buy the 3.6 V-6 for troopers? I don’t think so. Every one I’ve seen is the Hemi. I haven’t seen any issues with the Hemi oil Coolers.

They are 5.7 hemis with the oil filter adapter type oil cooler that is specific to the special service package. Basically a bad batch of oil coolers from the manufacturer.

@@brandongarnold Hmm, interesting I work at a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealer. We see some of the local municipalities with the Hemi vehicles. And none have ever needed an oil cooler.

My grandpa has a ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi and never have had any problems with it at all it’s 10 yrs old with 200,000 miles still runs like a dream

How do people and cops use the same mechanics but people’s cars get screwed faster? Idk just seems weird. Yes I believe that is how it is. We can see it. While we’re out there. It has nothing to do with being poor. It has everything to do with states who have existing contracts with dodge like Indiana and Ohio. Just because they stopped making the charger doesn’t mean the contract is gone

Sue Dodge! Make Dodge pay yo back or replace with 2024 Durango's! The State Police should stagger their purchases out over several years, so they don't have the possibility of so many vehicles to have mechanical problems! 😱😬🤬 👎👎 That's what our department did in TEXAS!
