Here's a complete broadcast (save for the opening titles, but it's close enough for horseshoes and KZfaq) of The Dating Game as aired on WSNS Channel 44, hosted by Jim Lange.
The eligible bachelors in the first round (this recording comes in midway through Jim's introduction of the first contestant) are #1, Joey D'Auria (years before becoming Bozo the Clown on rival station WGN Channel 9); #2, aspiring songwriter/singer Mark Lo (?); and #3, avid jogger and tennis player Scott Cooper.
Recording coming in during the introductions, we hear Joey "enjoys bagpipe music - hooo!" and "building castles in the sand".
Jim brings up the female contestant for Game #1: a curvaceous blonde nuclear technician, Autumn Anderson; after the introductions, the first commercial break.
Commercials for:
Nu Vinyl (available at Osco Drug, Goldblatt's, Ribordy, Montgomery Ward [Auto Dept.], Woolworth/Woolco and Walgreen's/Walgreen Agency, as seen on telop and voiceover by Don Ferris)
Lawrence Auto Trim - Automobile Interior & Exterior Specialists - located at 2959 Lawrence Avenue in Chicago. Phone 478-4433. (voiceover by Mal Wyman)
Q&A between Autumn and the bachelors
Commercials for:
ON TV - A neat "Coming Soon" early promo that features some logo animation that I haven't seen before (voiceover by Don Ferris) (music: "Capital City" by Brian Bennett, from KPM Music; slowed down,)
Record offer for Waylon's Greatest Hits - a compilation of Waylon Jennings' best songs on RCA Records and Tapes, offered by Hall of Music (ending voiceover by Jack Reynolds)
Autumn picks Bachelor #[NO SPOILERS]; Jim announces their prize as a trip to Scottsdale, AZ, with plug for Doubletree Inn of Scottsdale (voiceover for this and other product plugs by Johnny Jacobs)
Jim introduces what runners-up will receive (plugs for American Tourister; Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific fragrance shampoo and conditioner; Pledge furniture polish; and Swiss professional body and fiberglass repair kit for cars, boats and RV's)
Jim gives phone number for over-18 potential contestants to appear on show; followed by second set of Bachelors - #1, Damian Fulton from Australia (looks a little like Doctor Who's Peter Davison); #2, Byron L. Hanna II; and #3, David Cunningham from Texas.
The female contestant for Game #2, Lisa Rosen, who has two jobs, (and no bra?) - professional roller skater and assistant art director, is introduced, then the Q&A between her and the bachelors; as she ponders her choice after the game is over, the next break.
Commercials for:
Comdates computer dating service (voiceover by Linda Frost)
C.E.T. - "Brand New Store" (at 2945 N. Milwaukee Ave.), with deals on rentals for Kelvinator fully automatic washers and dryers (featuring longtime WFLD announcer Bud Kelly) - Call MOhawk 4-4100.
National Clothing Fashions - "Double Your Dollar Days"
Promo for WCT Invitational (World Championship Tennis) for Sunday (voiceover by Linda Frost)
Product plugs for Totes umbrellas, Polyglycoat Sound Shield, Crayola art and activity kits and Oragel CSM canker sore medicine, for Game #2 runners-up
Lisa chooses Bachelor #[NO SPOILERS], and they win Substance II vitamins and minerals and a trip to Vail, CO and a stay at the Enzian Lodge.
The host and contestants give a "Snowy Kiss" to end the program, and (with brief voiceover promo for upcoming Bonanza by ?? Is that Mal Wyman?) plug for Americar Rental System, and ending credits (with All Night Movies promo voiceover by Mal Wyman)
Promo for All Night Movies - "The Popcorn Thief" (voiceover by Don Ferris)
Station ID / promo for Sox vs. Royals game (voiceover by Mal Wyman)
Opening scene and titles for Bonanza episode "Calamity Over the Comstock" (S05E07, original air date November 3rd 1963)
Promos for:
Coming All Night Movies (voiceover by Linda Frost)
Get Smart (voiceover by Don Ferris)
Monster Movie (voiceover by Linda Frost)
The Gong Show - with Chuck Barris (ending voiceover by Don Ferris)
First 40 seconds of Act II of episode
This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, July 24th 1980 during the 5:31pm to 6:07pm timeframe. (the show itself has a Copyright of 1979 though)
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. When I was a kid, I used to be mesmerized by Nu Vinyl. I saved up my paper route money and bought my own bottle and wiped everything I came in contact with.

Now, there is the Bachelor and Bachelorette on ABC. It takes several weeks to determine the final couple.

In the second game I noticed Bachelor # 1 gave # 2 rabbit ears in the introduction. Lisa also acted like she was less than thrilled with her choice when he came out at the end.

@@tiarailic4086 Several people over the years who were contestants on the Dating Game have commented on youtube videos that they never went on the date. A lot of the time contestants were up and coming actors and just used the opportunity to get footage of themselves for a demo reel etc...

@@hoagie1978 yeah, and that makes sense. Essentially you're going on an expensive blind date on live tv! Gutsy to say the least. I wouldn't have done it, way too scary.😊

@@tiarailic4086 Speaking of scary, in 1978 serial killer Rodney Alcala appeared as a contestant of Dating Game. The woman who won the date said she got bad vibes after she picked him and refused the date. The other 2 bachelors said that he was weird and off the wall when they were waiting to tape the episode. A few months later in 1979 he was arrested. In later years when he would go up for parole he would brag he was on the dating game and show footage.
