A new Florida law is set to ban homeless people from sleeping in public spaces. Some say it will keep the streets safe, others say it will simply hide the problem from public view. So in tonight’s 7Investigates, Karen Hensel asked those who will be affected by the changes.

We have people who are addicted to drugs all over western Washington and the west coast.. You don't think this is dehumanizing to have to see this everyday. Where in the world do you live at ? This is about drug addiction in most cases and is getting worse everyday. They steal, leave messes everywhere for others to see and then move and do the same thing another place. Get real because the cities on the west coast spend hundred of millions of dollars to make the problem worse and worse. So the bleeding hearts are what have caused this over the last 20 years to get worse.

Its an easy problem to solve but most homeless people are Lazy, Nasty and are Drug Addicts. If the states want to get them work , start a program to train them to be security guards since you dont need a brain for that or even need to work hard. But, here is the catch, even if the state decided to do that, I bet 90 percent of them would refuse because their biggest challenge is getting fed and there are places that feed them daily and sleeping and they dont care about where they sleep. If they werent so nasty and disgusting I bet these things wouldnt have been a problem but when these disgusting people do their drugs and leave their filth everywhere and sleep and crap in the public view instead of trying to at least be somewhat clean, this is bound to happen. Now with thats said, At least in jail they will get fed, have a working toilet, a roof , AC all day, TV, and not have to work. Compared to their situation, that would be a major upgrade but here is the problem , they will have less access to drugs and alcohol. I bet if jails started serving alcohol, and drugs they wouldnt mind jail

Yes there is, they rather build buildings to accommodate people migrating from other states. 100 acres of land is less than 500k, they can turn it into a factory for organic foods and put them to work. Just think of the millions of dollars Ron DeSantis used to fly immigrants from Texas to Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. that could have gone towards helping the homeless problem in his state. Also DeSantis and state administrators rejected at least $11 billion in federal funds over the past two years. Millions of low-income Floridians could have benefited from that money. He also forfeited about $5 billion in food benefits for families that struggle to make ends meet. The $11 billion is money Floridians send to Washington when they pat their income taxes. And if Florida does not claim this money it often goes to other states. By not accepting the money he hurts Floridians.

Low Income Floridians wouldn't be able to find housing if the influx of migrants from out west ended up in Florida. Migrants band together and rent/buy up all of the low income housing which takes away options from legal residents. This is not only unfair to legal residents, but it also further increases the rate of homelessness.

Think of the amount of money the government is using to take care of the mass invasion of illegals and funding wars. The city of Miami past and present mayors have all done the same thing- completely ignore the homeless situation with dozens if not hundreds of people sleeping on the street and what I call the war zone just outside of wynwood It's almost like there's an unwritten rule as long as they stay in Little area and don't venture into the areas that are frequented by tourists specifically wynwood and Bayside, then the cops leave them alone. I have been watching this for years it's almost as if the cops and other City officials in the city of Miami are completely blind to dozens and dozens of homeless people sleeping on the streets in the city of Miami every single night. What California is doing is wrong…no one should follow what California has done and just allow anyone to sleep and camp wherever they want. And if many people who are homeless are that way because they have an actual mental illness…then they should be put in a place that deals with people with mental illnesses…they shouldn’t just allow them to live on the streets. @@ludovician the counties should not fail, and if they do then they should elect more competent leaders. if counties and states cannot figure out how to stop the rich from getting richer while the middle class fails, then it should be visible and everyone should have to see. alcohol and tobacco companies are thriving so are bars and restaurants, stores, rehabs, hospitals and those who earn from them. At the expense of the addicts and alcoholics, who ARE the homeless. There is no reason a person should be homeless unless they are somehow impaired. If DeSantis did not do this then what would happen? The counties should not get federal funding. The counties can figure out how to get these people employed and help. Stop giving them free food and free health care. Make them earn the money, and if they are doing drugs and nicotine and alcohol where are they getting the money ? Jail would give the homeless a dry bed to sleep in, air conditioning, 3 meals a day, a bathroom, a shower, and access to medical care. This would be an improvement in living conditions for most of the homeless. It costs California $120,000/person per year to jail people. Is that the best way to spend taxpayer money?

Job easily = minimum wage with rents at 2k a month, not feasible Find a roommate = not that easy and can go sour quick since some people are better off alone Even if 2 roommates have $15 an hour jobs so called easy to find full time, a 2 bedroom apartment goes for about $2,500 a month and that’s still unaffordable because groceries for 2 people is at least $250 per week. Not to mention gas, electricity, water, cell phone and not even factoring in a simple mattress to sleep on.
