In this video, I restore the WW2 German sapper constrictor (Wurgezange). This rare german tool used by the Wehrmacht sappers for connection between detonator cap and cable. The item will be found at the battlefields of the WW2. My job was to clean the item, to partial compensation for losses, straighten it and to do cold bluing.
I hope you enjoyed my restoration of the WW2 German sapper constrictor.

This tool is a constrictor (Detonator Cap Crimping Pliers). It allows a crimping of aluminum caps on a detonating cord. Used by German sappers in World War II.

Why did you apply cold bluing and boiled it in oil? isn't that a bit redundant? I enjoyed the video, looking forward for more ww2 projects. Servus from Romania

Thanks for the question. Cold bluing can be applied to the outside, but for preservation it is better to boil the inside in waste oil. At temperature, hot oil penetrates the pores of the metal and prevents rust or preserves surface rust. In addition, according to the alkaline oxidation technology (real bluing), it is necessary to boil in oil, this is preservation.

Do you need to scrub the cold bluing solution into the metal?

Yes, and it is advisable to apply the cold bluing fluid several times, so the coating will be more uniform.

Interesting over engineered tool. Others just use crimping pliers. If you have any mechanical sense you can figure out how it works. Please use the correct tools. The use of roll pin punches instead of flat faced punches is doing a disservice to the roll punch as you will ruin the face. Nice job.

A Wehrmacht tool with no markings ? No waffenamt like stamps ? You are kidding !

On one handle you can see the hard-to-read H39 stamp (at 14:16 in the video), which corresponds to similar Wehrmacht instruments. To make sure that this is a German instrument, you can look at the same instrument on the website fjm44.com/product/pioner-crimp-tool

Unfortunately, there is very little information on this tool. Perhaps viewers from Germany can give us a hint. In German this thing is called Wűrgezange.
