This WWDC needed to have all this fanfare and massive AI announcements for Apple as a company since the phone hardware market is increasingly reaching a possible plateau in major innovation.

What a lot of people not talk about is that everything they get is free. So, yes, maybe you need a newer iPhone or MacBook, but the software and the features are free, not some subscription model. and the money needs to come from somewhere.

Thing is Apple Intelligence I feel that normals may not update their iPhone just for Apple Intelligence, I could be wrong. Thing is most normals are happy to use a iPhone that works the same way their old iPhones worked. For the younger generations I would say they are going to move to new Apple iPhone for Apple Intelligence and the ability to customize most everything with the GUI.

The thirty second reality-check descent into perversion with the genmoji chat is _humoring,_ to say the least, and not what I expect from four 30+-year individuals operating in a professional journalist capacity. It _is_ one of the things people do with emoticons, though. Great chat! I'm happy you were all able to enjoy yourselves. :)

Apparently the reason Apple Intelligence is limited to the 15 Pro and above is because it requires 8 GB of RAM and those were the first phones to have that. Given how RAM intensive it likely is, that actually makes sense.

One feature i think apple did not mention with Home Kit is that fact you can check. How much electricity you use in your home.

I agree satellite messages, is huge. A lot of my friends are in the Philippines their phone connectivity is horrible. This sounds like they might have a chance to communicate when everything local goes south… and it does quite often

16:18 M1 isn’t a “really old chip” yet ma’am! However this discussion has been great, I agree with a few things. I have the 13 Pro max since release, and for the first time I’m highly considering in upgrading. Although from what I see, it seems that the 13 Pro Max will receive most of the iOS 18 features aside from the obvious “Apple Intelligence” amongst other things like recording voice calls.

My intrigye was about math,notes and sound or sounds action that function similar to backtap

I would like to see Apple reach out to Elon and Tesla re questions and concerns they have. It doesn’t have to be bans or any kind of animosity between these two companies re AI/privacy

I personally think people WILL upgrade if they can. I do not like it but I do understand Apple’s decision to compromise likability of the new iOS to keep everything on device and private. However, a small part of me think Apple WILL launch Apple Intelligence for older devices but solely on the cloud. Bet.

I am abit frustrated that Apple intelligence is not available on iPhone 📱 14 pro. I think I have to get the similar features on other apps. I would miss cleanup, memory movie photo feature. I would have to make do AI on my M4 iPad Pro and M3 MacBook Air and see how I go…

For me, a big disappointment was iPad OS, it felt really skinny in terms of improvements. But bigger disappointment still was WatchOS that no one on the panel mentioned. Apple has all my data, it allows me to create routines on work outs and even create a workout plan with fitness+. Now they have training load and better sleep tracking, AND AI! So I thought they’d put this all together have an AI personal trainer assistant type thing!! At least like let me know if I’ve trained too hard and auto lower my rings target for the next day, let me set targets which AI fitness can help me reach with certain workouts from their large library, that stuff. It seems like each year they add the blocks towards it and this year with AI I thought the project would be done. But alas, we wait for another year 😢

I think Apple Intelligence (AI) not coming to iPhones older than iPhone 15 Pro is a big deal. Sure tech enthusiasts understand the benefits of AI, but does your average consumer? I suspect they don't. When your average consumer find value in AI, they can buy the iPhone 15 Pro. By that time iPhone 15 Pro will be majorly discounted.

Elon is a very busy guy. He had to launch a space ship and prepare for the Tesla annual shareholder meeting. He doesn’t have time to sit through an Apple presentation. He probably tuned in at the end when Apple mentioned the OpenAI partnership

I don’t feel the “divide” of iPhone models being able to use or not use Apple intelligence should make that big of deal. There’s always been a cutoff for iOS upgrades (given being a larger reach to old models); it’s been bound to get to a point where there will be a larger line drawn in the sand. Apple has been announcing with their products for the last year how last years models have been upgrading hardware for machine learning ie Ai etc; it’s not a surprise. I still don’t benefit from crash detection. I can’t take take 3D video for Vision Pro. I don’t have satellite SOS. I don’t have image stabilization for video. I don’t have a 48megapixel sensor or telephoto lens. I don’t have ray tracing. Because I haven’t upgraded my phone yet. It’s no different how older gaming systems can’t play new games that are made for the newest models. If you want to play the new games for the better graphics, you need to get the new system.

Apple will lose more customers than make them. People who just upgraded or in the first year of their device payment. To limited all the new features to 15pro or higher is a shame that maybe when these people may jump ship when going into a new phone. Google Gemini work on all there current and older phone. This is the reason Apple went with the iPhone 15 Pro and Max for Apple Intelligence. It is because they want everyone to use USBC since every other product is transitioning to it.
