Wyze Cam V3 Floodlight - Way Better Color Night Vision

Today, we are going to check and test out the floodlight accessory that Wasserstein makes for your Wyze Cam V3. If you install your Wyze Cam V3 outside, and you have an existing light fixture, this is a perfect accessory for your Wyze cam. It not only provides great lighting at night but it also has a weather resistant USB port so that you can power your Wyze Cam through the floodlight and you don't have to worry about wiring and routing wires for your Wyze Cam.
We will do a quick unboxing, check out its features, do the installation and test this floodlight out and see what the video quality looks like on the Wyze cam V3 at night.

Something worth checking out, now if Wyze would design there upcoming official spotlights with battery backup built in so it can continue to record locally in the event of power loss.

I use the Univivi R Illuminator 12-LEDs night vision and it works fantastic. It illuminates a very large area, the best I've seen so far...it also has dusk to dawn sensor.

I love my Wyze cam v3! I'm using 256gb. You were right about the quality of video at night especially if it was far and you zoomed in. However, nothing beats the 24/7 recording. I still have my ring pro doorbell, hopefully Wyze releases a better doorbell camera/spotlight cam in the future.

I also love my Wyze Cam V3, it has far better night vision than my Ring Doorbell Pro and at a lot smaller price tag. I'm going to add the Wyze Cam above the door where I have the Ring Doorbell is.

Extremely bright. When it comes to audio though you might as well be talking underwater lol If you have a wyze cam V3 tho, this is an excellent addition to that. I just picked up the ReoLink 2k spotlight cam with solar panel. I really hope that they release some smart lighting (like Ring has) though.

Nice set of videos, next time please do touch upon storage solutions for these cameras. For instance Wyze cam offers both cloud and Micro SD storage. A comparison would be great.

Think he has a separate video on just the camera. I have a the wyze cam v3 set up inside pointing out a window bc of his recommendations. It picks up motion through glass and the starlight mode means there’s no IR light reflecting off the glass to cause glare.

I’m actually planning to make a video on when you need to sign up for Wyze’s cam plus subscription because depending on where you are going to use it…you might not need the subscription…I’ll work on the video..thanks.

@@LifeHackster Wyze seems to be offering a $99 for 99 Camplus license test pilot / anniversary special of the Camplus package again ( initially offered in July 2021 for a few days.. ) looks like a lot of folks didn’t hear about it due to methods they used to share it & they are offering it again. Compared to what other companies offer in a package for same or Similar price point it seems there is plenty of room for improvement with a package like this for current and future products or will it be nickel & dimed with no common sense applies Thanks Great reviews & always fun to watch

I had 2 different versions of this, and my determination was that this is a bad product. My floodlight literally just kept going on and off ALL NIGHT. Non stop. I literally had 200+ motion recordings overnight in a 6 hour period on multiple nights. If you read the reviews on amazon for these products, MANY other people have the same issues. You are better off going with a cheap home depot motion light that you leave on 25/7, and then wire a plug off of it with a usb for your wyze cam. I was not impressed by this product on multiple levels. The Wyze cam V3 however is AMAZING!

Yes bad product. The floodlight would go on and off by itself. Not recommended

Had the same problem. Light would be on and off all night. It would even come on during he day with the sun out. Would not recommend this flood light. So sad because this was such a good idea.

Sorry guys forgot this question from before when I did my other comment What kind of solar flood style light do you guys recommend (just a light without no l cam). I picked up some of the aootek but I'm also looking for the type they has the 3 light panels on it (LED flood style). I wish Reolink has a Floodlight camera. I'd prob get that. The ring ones are damn pricey.

It will still be based on motion..so if somebody comes in my backyard at night..all of my lights including this floodlight will get triggered.

A regular motion activated floodlight..it has dusk to dawn and can also be turned ON continuously if needed..

Okay so I ended up buying this Floodlight from Home Depot a few months back and just a few days ago was able to install it, but I am having issues. I plugged an additional V3 to it and the following day after the install, this camera would show offline on the app and would only turn back on if I turned off and on the inside house switch to the light. Then tonight the floodlight, out of the blue, turned on full brightness yet I had it off on the app and the app still showed it as being off. I ended up turning it off with the inside house switch. Now I'm past the Home Depot return period and am stuck with a $100 piece of junk and Wyze won't reply back to me. I should have known better to invest anymore of my money into the Wyze ecosystem.

Image at night with lights on would have been much better if the lights were raised a little. They were aimed at your feet rather than your face as you got more distant. Maybe 1 aimed high & 1 low would give a greater range of face coverage over the full distance of the garden?

I would of prefer if they designed and made a case for it like the v2 I think it would of looked better if they designed a case for the v3 and included it and made it like that like the v2

I modified the case that fits the v2 by Wasserstein, fully enclosed case with plastic lens cover to fit my WYZE v3 by using a Dremel-like tool and grinding the internal ridges inside the case to fit the v3, it is tight but it works great.

Do i have to subscribe to their service to record video? I thought when someone walked in front it would record video. I have an sd card installed. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong..

No, you don't have to subscribe for it to record video as long as you installed a micro SD card. Subscription will give you AI notifications and also will record to the cloud.

I really hoped this was going to be what I wanted in a flood light but I hate cool white flood lights. Why can't they make a warmer flood light? I wonder if a filter could be put over the lenses to warm the lights a bit. And it doesn't have a dusk to dawn feature? Nor can the lights be turned on as a back porch or driveway light and only comes on for motion? That's very disappointing.

Yes, it doesn't have dusk to dawn. It only has motion activated lights. I guess a filter/film cam make them warmer lights.

@@LifeHackster Seems like it wouldn't be that hard for this company to add a dusk to dawn and manual on features. Because if I'm in the back yard at night, I don't need the light constantly turning off and on for motion only. I want the light on to see what I'm doing. This is a no brainer! And I certainly won't pay $60 for a floodlight that doesn't have these features.

Sorry these lights are junk just use Wyze plugs to control lights had to many problems out of Wyze bulbs not coming on maybe Wyze will build there on soon
