Negotiating solid cover is kinda like walking behind a horse right? You either hug in tight so you move with it or keep a wide birth to remain outside kicking distance. Same deal with here, percussive incidents can either kick you into your cover or it into you, depending on which side explosion's on. Leaving buffer space to decelerate in before impacting or already being in contact with anything that can break you before you break in event of a collision always an advisable thing to do. Even if nothing goes boom you still don't want a bad guy or your homie who tripped to smash your teeth out lol

Par time for this drill? How could you keep it objective on how much you are presenting to the target?

This isn't a speed drill or accuracy drill so theres no time standard, this is to learn body mechanics, foot work, and proper weapon manipulation to effectively use cover properly. To increase skill Place a camera down range and record yourself for analysis, and effectiveness.
