My question is why did any of the women in all the episodes even find Willie remotely attractive?

Kate knew right away that Willie was going to screw around with Jo. After all, she knows her children oh so well. She knows what a dog her son is!

Willie has always been an idiot, dependent on his parents, always wanting what he wants, and choosing women who have awful characters. Rachel was the one women who treated him right. She was too good for him.

Willie was great as a teen in the first couple of seasons but the character changed into a jerk.

Rachel's hair is so beautiful. She reminds me of Elizabeth on 8 Is Enough! MMy husband passed away in February. I cannot even begin to explain how depressed I am. I hate the way I feel.

I had remembered this as a family show as the title indicates but it's turned into nothing more than a score sheet on how many people Willie and Nancy can hop into the sack with. Poor Rachel. ...Judith Chapman (Joe), is a very pretty lady. She always reminds me of Susan Hayward or a young(er) Bette Davis-especially Davis. I first saw her as a kid on General Hospital during the 80s, and was riveted. Even for the time, she had the look and sound of certain Golden Age actresses. Devon Ericson, while also very pretty, had a far more contemporary "today" look ca. late 70s. With Ericson's looks, and Chapman's talent and looks, they both should've become household names or at least highly visible.

Now I remember why I never watched this show when it was on the air. The endless problems are too easily resolved, everyone looks too handsome or pretty, and most of it makes no logical sense. (An inexperienced director takes on a play which she already wants re-written and has an act she hates). I guess back then this was called "quality tv"
