In someways I think we are more private now. But yes you did have life in front of you and you lived it head on. You knew your neighbors and many became your friends. Not the same now. We do not need them to feel connected. Creativity in music and television is not existing now like it was in those pre tech decades. At least I grew up experiencing all that back then though.

This reminded me of being in jr. high in the early ‘70s and having mad crushes on the high school and college boys at the pool each summer. One year my friend and I zeroed in on one gorgeous high school senior and his buddy. We worshipped them from afar mostly, but somehow (I can’t recall how) we made contact and they were so kind to us without ever being inappropriate or leading us on. The buddy had a pink Mustang and would offer us a ride if he saw us walking. I’ve certainly thought about them over the years, but this episode made me experience those tender feelings again.

Great writing and cast. Ed Zwick was on credits... he went on to lead some of my gav shows decades later - 'Once and Again' and 'ThirtySomething'. I eben thought...i could live in Pasadena. Lol

We had several great family television shows as a teenager in school. "SNL" - Saturday Night Live, Happy Days - this show ran 10 years, the Walton's, MASH, Eight is Enough, Happy Days, Beverly Hillbillies, Laverne & Shirley, Great Video Musicals, "All in the Family", the Jeffersons, Sanford & Son, the Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Little House on the Prairie, The Dukes of Hazzard, "DALLAS", The Love Boat, Three's Company - RIP John Ritter, "Good Times", and there are just too many more for me to sit down and list. I know I have missed several other great shows from the 60s, the 70s, and the 80s! Those were the days! We didn't have Video games, Cell Phones, and all the other electronics we have today. Some Days I wonder if this is the reason we have so much crime today with our teenagers. When Dark Thirty came around, the Sun was just about gone, you had no choice but to go home and get ready for your next day at school. We also had a lot of Outdoor Sports during these same years. Sadly, when my kids went through school, they could NOT even tell me the days they were playing, NOR could they tell me who was on the teams of all the sports. BASEBALL was the big sports for my kids. I think the reason for this is "Ben McDonald" was a neighbor who lived about a mile down the road from us. We lived in the country. We had Farms, no subdivisions. I have to say "Big Ben" kept Baseball alive in our small country community, and still does. Over the years we had other athletes who went on to various PRO Sports Teams. We knew them, but Ben was the man. Well it was BIG Ben, then SHAQ, and then "JOE BURROUGH", "SHAQ" was the other GREAT star who came from LSU. "Big Ben" was first, then just a few short years the SHAQ name was all over the place. SHAQ was a BIG Teddy Bear who love to play around, and still does. SHAQ still comes around, and he loves watching the LSU Sports Teams play. It's great seeing SHAQ walk around. You always knew it was SHAQ as he usually had his LSU Shirts or Jerseys on. Plus he was a good 1.5' ft to 2.0' ft taller than everyone else. LOL We love them all, and we love all of them supporting our future Pro's! Thanks Guy's!

There were no rules in place about teachers being involved with students. 2 of my HS teachers, one male, one female, were involved with students (only 2 of which we were aware). When the administrators became aware, they moved those teachers to the Jr High schools. In Jr High I had a typing teacher who was Italian, wore tight, low cut tops with tight mini skirts. So many boys took her class. I remember she always sat on her or a student’s desk with her legs crossed and swinging her leg🙄. Things are now different. I don’t think parents ever gave a thought to the fact there may be/were inappropriate relationships between adults and children back then. But, when it was found out, nobody was ever arrested/held accountable.

When she was practicing with the swim coach, his voice sounded awful familiar... Then when i was able to see him later on in the episode, he was in flowers in the attic!; And also jagged edge movie! Marshall Colt

@@BigGiantMonster I think Buddy was about 17 in this episode, and Jason was a grown man, say in his early 20s. I get the fact that he could get in trouble if they had sexual relations. But is it a big deal with the law if they kissed and made out and no one really got undressed and no one's private areas were touched?
@BigGiantMonster4 жыл бұрын
@@XxowendanxX At the very least, he'd never coach again
@XxowendanxX4 жыл бұрын
@@BigGiantMonster well, if Jason did try to pursue a relationship with buddy, he'd have to explain look, we need to keep this on the DL. I can get in deep doodoo if the wrong people find out that we are boyfriend and girlfriend. Whether or not buddy would've been able to keep quiet about it, I don't know. And if it ended badly she could do a revenge type thing and tell everyone. It would be very dangerous. If he wanted to date her bad enough he could say look we're really good friends but I'm not going kiss you or touch you. If we're still good friends when you turn 18 and if I'm no longer coaching you then game on. It might even be better that way being platonic friends for the better part of a year to see if it's real feelings or just a teenage girl crush.

Good for you! Yeah she truly is a terrific actress. It really is great to hear how Kristy McNichol influenced and inspired others and she really did prove that in "Little Darlings." Don't know what it is, but as a male I always admired, respected and was always attracted to the cute, tough tomboy girls. Thanks for your comment and I'm so sorry for admitting that! 😉

@@lisaperry5999 From your accomplishments it's seems like you still are a cute, tough tomboy at heart. Oh YES I always did find it attractive, appealing and sexy seeing girls in denim Levi's just like Kristy in "Little Darlings" with her streetwise outfit in that denim jacket, jeans and oh those very painful black high-top Converse sneakers when she kicked that guy in the nuts in the opening scene. Anyway I totally agree - I think Kristy McNichol had a bit of a troubled childhood unknown to her at the time and she was also struggling with depression and her sexual identity. Yeah it would be very interesting if she did come out with a memoir about her life. Thank You Lisa!
