It is but not as egregious as Xeno's rage made it out to be. He's mad because switching to GNB (alongside BRD switching to DNC and RDM switching to SMN) made the dps check so much easier. It's not just that he's getting 500 more dps, it's that his static's ranged jobs also switched and made the check so much easier. The difference between the various dps (and tanks) should not be high enough for xeno's to feel the difference assuming equal skill at all jobs. This is a minor damage balancing issue that broke the camel's back because Xeno's has been complaining about tank damage discrepancy since the start of EW.

Job balance is incredibly shit right now and this week 1 savage shows it. SE is clearly blind to the issue (or just downright stupid)

@@laggyjaggi8666 I’m not sure that I agree with hypervelocity having 600 potency. But I 100% agree with linking it to DD rather than Burst Strike. And most importantly it making hypervelocity an AOE like Double Down. I think if this new hypervelocity has a 5 yalm radius like DD, it’ll make moving the boss a smoother experience. All around, I think this would be a very good compromise. Rather than removing hypervelocity.

@@TenchiSawada Every caster has cleared. Still no Machinist or Reaper, I think. Very few paladins. Summoners are clearly favored over RDM this time. Even Black Mage is favored over RDM thanks to DPS checks.

he got it to 50% before but im pretty sure that was on clean runs. they had a bard swap to dancer as well. they were so close with the other comp but i guess they decided they needed more damage to compensate for possible mistakes.

Rpr is still plenty viable, just make sure you're properly gearing and grabbing food. Unless you're week 1 clearing the final turn this discrepancy won't effect you.

If you want dps above anything else, you go DRK or GNB. That's practically always been the case. Problem is that was meant to be an _option_ before.

WAR's thing is sustain. The reason it is generally so good is because it basically keep itself alive forever, thus lessening the burden on healers.

@@thorn7687 That's kind of the point though...I'd need to actually see the logs but I doubt the reason that Xeno's group cleared the phase this pull was purely because of swapping tanks or that they didn't clear earlier purely because he was on WAR. Sure it helps the group to go with the highest dps tank available but people have cleared on lower dps tanks, which means that there are probably people in Xeno's group that aren't playing to their maximum potential. Probably just haven't gotten comfortable with the fight yet. It's pretty normal for a first clear to be tight at enrage - I bet his group just like other groups will eventually smash the check by the 5th or 6th time they need to get back to the final phase.

Consistently more damage. It's the same reason they have A Dancer and a summoner instead of machinist and redmage because machinists and redmage are in a really bad place right now. Damagewise, I love the play style of red mage.

They couldn't clear the phase when he was playing warrior even tho they had no deaths and damage downs, he switched to gunbreaker and they were able to kill it with 2 damage downs and 1 death. He is malding about the huge dps difference between the 2 classes .

@@foxghost11 were they close to meeting the dps check before? i mean sometimes having done the mechanics correctly dosnt equal best dps output, its still possible to miss a couple of gcd, also the crits of big ability. if they were falling short just a little bit with warrior on several runs in a roll i can see it being class problem. individual performance do matter as well i think, shouldnt be judged by a single run is what i m trying to say

@@XDeadSnowX they spent many hours seeing enrages at about 1-3% off the dps req without damage downs or deaths but didnt actually get through it while he was on WAR. meanwhile after he goes GNB, they make the check so easily that they got it down with 2 damage downs

Which is crazy especially considering the week delay and more gear than usual. I clear whenever and play whatever I want to play (PLD and SMN) so I'm not a week 1 dude by any means but dam brutal design.

He switched to gunbreaker from warrior i think and there is this huge disparity damage wise between the two. when he switched to gnb, they cleared phase 1 with 2 damage downs. I assume that was not possible with WAR.

I think that the difference from WAR to GNB was enough to push them through even despite 2 damage downs? I'm not entirely sure.

So I'm not sure what happened exactly before I tuned in last night, but I caught their enrage at 50% which led to Xeems thinking about switching to GNB. He thought his numbers were good on WAR but decided to try out GNB this morning. So he's pissed that he had to change jobs to be able to meet the DPS check.

BUT he still has every right to be mad, according to SE's design philosophy you bring the player not the job... That is not true for P8S. They mostly didn‘t meet the DPS check because the SAM they funneled gear towards was extremely lacking.

not denying there is more of a disparity than there ever has been before (at least in recent times). But the people who are upset must have never played WoW (or any other MMO ever) cause SE does a far better job balancing than anyone else out there. Balancing is probably the hardest thing to get right in any MMO. This is why Blizzard originally killed the old talent tree system. Watch what happens next time they have a race to world first. At least in FFXIV we don't have to level alts. I've seen people say the alternative is they could make these checks a little more loose. The better solution IMO is to release raids with savages and ultimates on the .5 patch so they can fine tune the numbers to be as close to perfect as possible.

And I've seen so many groups making comp changes to meet the check. Never seen that before in my 3 years of playing ff and it's pretty awful. The worst part about it is that it'll affect the casual raiders the most. Party finder will lock jobs out, statics will only take the meta jobs etc.

It does matter, of course. Because you will spend much more time on a dps check with a comp that deals less damage because each player will have to perform better. In a high damage comp, there is more room for mistakes

any class that is perfectly optimised with a normal comp should be able to clear. The fact they got multiple clean runs with a warrior and then a shit run with a gbr and made the check is absolutely stupid.

Ah it's quiet simple really. This basically shows that class balance is off, nothing to do with gear as the last time we had a gear check was back in Heavensward iirc. The issue boils down to the dps differences between classes being enough to make or break a fight, this usually isn't an issue if you can play your class. However since Endwalker class balance seemed a little sketch.

it shows a problem with either the way the classes are tuned or the fight is tuned. i610 is the minimum item level for the fight and supposedly its doable on all viable comps. even with everyone in full crafted gear they spent hours seeing enrage with many of those pulls having no damage downs or deaths and then he goes gnb and they did more damage even with36 2 damage downs

The majority of players are not going for week 1 clears, but it's more a class balance/fight tuning issue rather than a raid specific/worldrace issue. The fact that certain jobs are significantly underperforming - enough to make a noticeable difference in content - just sets an ugly precedent. Could lead up to things like party finder slots being locked to exclude the underperforming jobs, and higher end raiders being forced off their favorite jobs to ease the damage checks.

To put it simply, you play paladin, you love paladin. Case 1 you're a week 1 paladin, you are a very good at the game and love clearing raids week 1, you are way less likely to do that as a paladin this tier, you'll most likely clear it week 2. Case 2 you're a week 3 paladin, you are a just good enough at the game and love clearing raids week 3, you are way less likely to do that as a paladin this tier, you'll most likely clear it week 4. Case 3 you're a paladin that clear the raid in around 2 months, you are less good at the game and love clearing raids sometimes in this patch, you are probably going to be a drag for your team even later in the patch, because on top of the fact that you are not as good at the game, your class sucks too compared to others, and the content is clearly balanced around those top classes. So youll end up waiting probably till balance patches and have a bad time. This are just a few specific cases, but hope it can be clear how this will affect EVERYONE and at ALL TIMES IN THE PROGRESS that wants to play an undertuned class, up until it will get balance fixes (a few months in 6.2.5). Classes wont be forever balanced, but they can try harder, and at best, they can at least make bosses around lower tier classes, not top ones. The last boss (phase 1) dps check is clearly balanced around meta comps. So yah, this thing with "this will only affect the top 1% of players that goes for week 1 clears" is actually BS and it's actually the other way around, it will affect less good players more, they will think it's something wrong with them etc. Top players, most of them already figured the meta and went for better classes (see here Xen had GNB prepared) but ofc there will be exceptions even here. The day to day standard players, and the party finder will suffer worse. I would say this will affect the other 99% not the 1% it's actually the other way around.

It's one thing to do more damage it's another when the fight is tuned so picking undertuned jobs can make or break week 1 runs when people keep repeating the mantra of "you can clear with anything". The inevitable design problem is that every high-end raid in FFXIV is very binary and tightly scripted and there's simply no value ever in doing less damage. It's not like you could pick a turtle comp and play more safe but have to do more mechanics, that's not how any of the game works. It's bad game design, period.

For the views and the laughs at the stream? Honestly, even if yeah, dps from classes are unbalanced right now but no way it deserves that rage, looks like a show for views to me but w.e

damage disparity between gnb & war is so great that they can clear the dps check with 2 dmg downs. i assumed they had many perfect no dmg downs runs when his war runs (can't watch his streams cause xeno streams when im asleep lol) but couldn't clear, and the instant he switched they do. tldr tank balance is very scuffed atm.

It's the DPS check. The disparity between tanks is too wide, GNB and DRK just does significantly more DPS than WAR and especially PLD. GNB and PLD gap is literally 500 difference. GNB and WAR gap is also like ~500 dps dif. Same goes for MCH and RPR being far behind the other DPS in their respective roles hence why no one brings a RPR or MCH, you literally have a super tough time meeting the DPS check.

This comment has such a massive amount of copium. If one job can complete a piece of content significantly easier that another job, it's not a world race or week 1 problem, it's a problem period. Will as many people change jobs for the clear after week 1? Probably not but that doesn't mean that the problem doesn't exist. And I don't know if it's the the same PF me and you are talking about, PF I know absolutely loves the meta and people will definitely get kicked or not accepted for playing a wrong job.

Except it affects PF the most. Best raiders in the game had to swap jobs to clear. Now your average pf gamer is way worse than them, won't you agree? Racers also have 2 weeks worth of tome gear this time around. So if pf wants to clear this, they'll absolutely need the meta.

Of course things will get more linient and easier, but how is the fact that youll need 4 weeks of gear/raiding to be at the same level with classes that are there in week 2 not going to affect you in week 4? Youll prog week 4 at same difficulty other classes prog week 2. And this will keep on going, the difference, untill 6.2.5 when they balance (and when the hype will go down a lot).

PF players in later weeks do damage at close cap ilvl of what top tier raiders do at min ilvl. Just check the statistics average from playing with players at any late week. Balance cannot be made based on gear past on content. Otherwise it becomes scuffed and you get raids that are "gear gated" which is not how FF14 does things. Content should be balanced at the min ilvl max gear available (crafted pentameld) and in this case an extra week of tome gear.
