lmao, I've always cringed when seeing their "boutique" switches lineup and how their marketing works.. Using other expensive brands like Tiffany in the same picture to just represent what's wrong with this hobby, it's just this one huge flex, show everyone your 500+$ keeb, add the most expensive items you own and put those next to it.. It's so ridiculous, feels like collecting sneakers at this point. I for my part just want a nice keyboard, no matter how rare or expensive it is and when it comes to switches I'll definitely stick to the zeal alternatives and get some pandas, bobas or T1s!

@@zx6972 might try lilacs and I already tried Durock L7 switches which are similar to alpacas I've heard... The next switches I will use will be the T1s in the Rama Kara and then the Holy Boba frankenswitches in the Saka68, if I don't like the T1s then I might swap them for lilacs! Thanks :)

@@travdump209 Why? His switches are an entirely different story. And it's not like there is any risk because you can just order a couple of them and try them for yourself or watch/read reviews. They are overpriced ofc but it's not like that was ever a secret.

@@13n1304 The switches are unacceptable imo. For $1 you want pretty much the best of that category. That's not what you get. The spring problems are a big no.

@@zephyr.r most of these boards are a maximum of 10 minute machine time and $30 in almunimum, going for prices we charge for nuclear and aerospace components at my shop. I can see charging these prices for a fully custom one off, but most of these GBs are hundreds even thousands of orders. This is shit we would charge a maximum of $100 for lol. But, that's how niche markets go. I have a friend making 6 figures drawing transformers porn.

Hey Hionimi, appreciate your comments. Just wanted to reply quick and say that I am merely a "designer" and that I run with vendors for these specific reasons. If your board had issues, it should have been caught in QC and not even sent out. Extras are ordered for issues like this. I have very limited control over how things are fulfilled and what is sent out, I run with these vendors with the expectation that they are sending out boards in which they themselves would be happy to receive. Sometimes that doesn't happen and in those cases, such as with the Xeno, those are vendors I will no longer work with. Issues like yours frustrate me just as much as they frustrate you because they are easily avoidable and shouldn't happen. Please understand that I sincerely do what I can to make sure everyone who supports me or any collab that I am involved with is happy, there is only so much in power that I can do and if you or anyone else ever has issues you can always reach out to me. I do appreciate your support and I hope that if there is a next time that you choose to support again that you will have a better experience.

Hi @@PwnerSucks, appreciate that you reply to my message, this was also how the issues were solved, MyKeyboard had extras around as well and swapped out the top which had a lot of this rusty-looking residue. The screws were also swapped out, but other screws didn't seem to fit either so had to get some regular metal looking ones instead of the brass looking ones. All issues are now pretty much solved and just really enjoying the boards. I'm just a bit surprised that issues seem to happen with more than one run.

how did it turn out?

@@ee1yd I just got it last week! I haven't built it yet, but the purple anno came out perfect (the top and bottom match as well), but there are some minor comestic issues with the pvd finish on parts of the plate and weight. However, it's not that big of a deal in my eyes, just happy to have it!

@@JYMV I'm just curious, as a person who spends this kind of money on individual keyboards, what are your expectations? Do you expect perfection? Or do you expect something that's 98 % perfect? Also, do you believe that the company that produced this keyboard could be very profitable at this price range, producing a keyboard that is perfect? By perfection I'm talking about build quality, functionality, and finish. Thanks.

@@bassam.2023 A 460$ retail price was considered a high end board at this time (but now it’s the norm) and should NEVER have these type of issues. If you take a look at companies like Keycult and Rama, their products have packaging that is just as good and would never come with these issues. I would say they definitely come almost if not perfect. Even the tiniest ding or discoloring would make their products B grade.

Do you mean that this is now the standard price for a groupbuy? Just to be clear, I think anyone who bought the Xeno got shafted. I'd want a refund immediately. I think they would make a huge profit on this venture providing a perfect keyboard for $460. I would estimate the net cost of these boards is no more than $40 and that's probably high. The fact of the matter is though that this company will never get it's kamuffins, the next time they have a group buy, they'll mention that QC will be top notch and mech enthusiasts will close their eyes and reach into their pockets and pay any price.

@@bassam.2023 The norm meaning there's a lot of group buys in the $400 range nowadays. It was less common when the xeno was in group buy. Your estimate is definitely low for the net cost, I would estimate closer to $100-200 dollar range, which would include alu, packaging, machining, coating, and wage for the workers, and the upfront costs for the machines required to even start. Keycult does many live streams where they show you how they machine their keyboards, there's actually an insane amount of attention to detail that goes into their boards.
