Escalate the request. If this can be classified as an ADA issue you'll see how fast they find the budget to pay for it.

I mean…no, they don’t care. There is no enforcement of the ADA, you’re not penalized, best case scenario an advocacy group utilizes their lawyer to come to a compromise. Otherwise ADA lawsuits can take years and years and you likely won’t be monetarily compensated for the discrimination and they’ll just add that one button (if they even have the same door at the end of the case). Wisconsin school for the Deaf illegally removed an elevator during remodel (AFTER the ADA was passed) I contacted people all over the state government and filed ADA complaints and brought it up in every one of my kids IEP meetings bc it actively put my daughter in danger, she could not safely move between areas of the building without going outside and could get stuck outside in the event of an active shooter or should be stuck in one area of the building during the event of an active shooter during a tornado she would be stuck in an unsafe part of the building, or have to go outside a that had a tornado in the vicinity to be able to go to a safe area it took three years and an advocacy organization using their lawyer to get an elevator in and by that time she already left that school because they obviously didn’t value her existence. No one uphold the ADA there is no enforcement that’s the actual problem. It’s a law that doesn’t matter to this country. They have no money behind it. There are no consequences if you break it. Nothing happens.

Big bummer but I’m glad you’re advocating and they are listening!

Making their facility handicap accessible isn’t just a “nice to have”, it’s the law. If they receive federal money, they need to comply with a reasonable request for additional access.

good for you pushing for this. its so necessary and so many of the organizations we participate in truly do not put their money where they should in order to help their population. thank you for doing this!

Don't they legally have to put that in? Or are you not in the US?
