Jia never hid her dislike from Ruyi because she assumed Ruyi would be an easy person to beat therefore not someone she needed to fear. Jia hid her dislike from Empress Fuca because she was Empress and if Jia showed her true colors then the Empress could easily destroy her nd throw her aside. Jia never knew Ruyis true strength

She wouldn’t dare be as bold with Fuca because the Empress sired almost as many children as her and her clan was very influential to Emperor’s politics. She probably felt more secure doing it to Ruyi because unlike Fuca, Ruyi didn’t have children of her own and she had no clan backing for Emperor. Ruyi’s support mostly came within the Central Palace (Consort Yu, Consort Chun, and the Mongolian consorts). By the time Ruyi took over the Central Palace, Jia only started to lose influence. She simply miscalculated being on the highs for so long. She was one of the smartest in the harem actually. If anything, she was up there with Ruyi and Consort Yu when it comes to brains. She only messed up because of stress after playing the game too hard for too long. She dealt with any possible threat that could be in her way or her sons’ ways. Meanwhile, Yu chose her battles wisely, focusing on her and Ruyi’s safety, and Ruyi only cared to fight with certain people only and knew when or with whom to let go.
