I find it very symbolic of her falling out of love and heartbreak with the emperor in this scene where she wakes up from fainting. When the emperor told her she was pregnant, the first person she looked to was Rongpei for confirmation, and then the physician for an explanation. Even in between the emperors interjection, she doesn’t interact with the emperor much before turning to the physician again. It’s a subtle detail, but really telling of how she’s beginning to feel about Hongli.
