I realize this is a short, 360 degree video of Xinjiang but I'd love your feedback! Does this type of format intrigue you or is it annoying?
My hope is that you'll be able to get a small taste of what it's like to be in these beautiful locations. Should this prove popular, I can imagine taking this camera to a Uyghur wedding, into a local home or many other places in each city I visit.

I know this was extremely short, but I needed a "proof of concept" before I spend too much time on 360. So I want to get your feedback...was this a good immersive experience or did it feel like a dumb gimmick?

Good to know! It's interesting because until I've had a chance to edit and publish a 360 video on KZfaq, it's really difficult to know while shooting if the angle / height is good (you can preview the video but it's not clear how it will be cropped on KZfaq or Facebook)

Great new viewing experience Josh...thanks. Definitely adds to the overall narrative. Probably needs to be used in a contexts that are best suited...otherwise, as you mention, it may be the gimmick that we look at rather than the subject matter. Hi Josh, Thanks for exploring new ways to bring Xinjiang closer to us. Others have commented on the details that need attention which I know you will grow more experienced at. One problem I had that is out of your control was the feed being interrupted and it was missing portions of a scenes. I think this was the internet speed. Additionally, it takes time for us users to become more familiar with 360 video viewing. Keep up improving.

With a mobile device, just move it to look around. I just tried a 360 swivel office chair and it worked a treat. The problem is you don’t know where to look so it’s a very different experience and suits some video genres better than others. I do think it’s an important format and especially in street scenes where there’s a lot going on and perhaps watching a second or third time to take in the things easily missed.

Hello Josh, thank you, I liked the idea although it was short, maybe a wee more practise will help, the camera may have to go a bit higher. Sharpness is an issue I do no know if it can be corrected easily, I have no experience with 360º. Keep on doing, you will be the best in no time at all!

Thank you! I think your assessment is right on spot. I need a lot more content to make a longer video and I need to raise the camera higher. I'm going to play with the settings but I'm not sure how much clearer I can make the picture with this camera. 360 is still in its infancy!

The top of your head was cut off at the start, but it was easy to adjust down. Inside 360 horizontal scans of the yurt and desert cool, but I find the distortion annoying. I still prefer a well composed single or controlled video pan from a tripod. The middle of a space isn't always the best perspective. Sorry to be a bummer.

I was thinking to do these with Samsung 360° but then I thought: it costs 250 euros and I saw many viewers complaing that 360° image quality was too low + not convenient with computer this 360° vids... market is not ready yet. Though looking at the nb of views of your vid, this might be a clever move. Now who knows: Xingjiang title helps...

I'm always willing to give new things a try, as was the case here. Video quality may not be great but all technology has to start somewhere. I'd rather figure this out now...plus, it's kind of fun :)

I am always very cautious when it comes to spending money for my youtube passion. You want quality videos. But tt comes with the right equipment: drone, camera, 360°, pole, gimbal... But all this is investment and you are never sure it is going to pay. Take the drone for instance: many were "failures", some paid so much and it ends up kind of useless if they didn't choose the correct drone or fail to use it with success or integrate in their videos... I thought about 360° as it is a good match to my type of video: discussing (china related) topics while showing viewers around. I got the gimbal smooth q. At first I thought I wasted my money due to the audio nuisance engine noise with gopro but I think I might have found the solution (wind mode on gopro).
