Thanks, Jeff!...I appreciate you taking the time (and money) to share your knowledge, and opinions on all the different tools on the market today. Takes a lot of the guess work out of buying new tools. Really enjoyed this series, and looking forward to the next one!

This was a great series and will certainly help a lot of people out. My vote goes toward the icon version of the reversible double box end spline drives like those mountain and ktools wrenches. I have read many things about how hard it is to warranty out a mountain or ktool. I have the icon set and when I had a pin fall out of my 17/19 wrench I was in and out of harbor freight in 3 minutes. With a new one from another set. I also believe the ktool and mountain might be 72 tooth. The icons along with a couple other rebranded sets are 90 tooth and then Cornwell has them in 120 tooth. 90 tooth to me is the perfect balance of backdrag and swing arc. Typically 120 tooth has slightly more backdrag. The last thing to note as well, I commented the other day saying spline drive wasn’t my favorite. It had slipped my mind that spline drive does have some pretty good use cases for other types of bolts. I pulled an engine yesterday and could barely access these 2 very large etorx bolts. My sockets were too deep and I found that the icon 18mm spline drive fit over that bolt perfectly and I was able to break it free and get them out. 👍🏼 so they aren’t just for 6 sided fasteners. Anyways thanks for the videos!

All good info you gave out!! spline drive does have a place like you said!! i like 6 point for breaking lose stubbourn fastner, but sometimes you cant get the rite position on the fastner and you then need a 12 point!! thanks foe the info on the tooth counts!! stay tuned!!

Great series. A set of double box flex head wrenches is on my bucket list. If money was no object I'd get a set of the new Snap on wrenches. $800 is way too much of a price for me to justify. Looking forward to your next series. You do a great job of reviewing tools!

Mac, Icon, Mountain, maybe Snap-on (can't remember for sure),and one other I can't remember offhand are all the same wrench made by ATD. ATD and Mountain are sub $200 but only have one year warranties. The best bang for the buck are the Icons. An extra $50-60 gets you a lifetime warranty.

I was able to get the Tekton 6point double ratcheting box end XL wrenches. I really like the 6 pt over the 12 or spline. But they don’t have the reverse button. And they have been discontinued. But these are my go to. I wish Gearwrench or Mountain made these in 6 pt. With reverse then it would be a perfect wrench! IMHO.

I’m sorry, the NAPA/Carlyle set was $407.31 including tax with free shipping. They look mighty similar to Mountain-Ktool design, however I’ve only seen mountain & Ktool wrenches online and Not in person. I Love NAPA and we trust NAPA for warranty & service

I greatly appreciate you doing this series but while watching this grand finale video, I just realized that you did not look at icon from Harbor Freight which is a huge hole because that is one of the most accessible retailers in America and probably one of the most popular sets. It would be awesome if you would do an add-on video with that one at least and then say sort of where it sits on the spectrum with these others. Again, thank you.

The gear wrench set ĺooks like a winner being so long , in today's cramped engines can you get much use for them ..
@DiscipleDownАй бұрын
Duratech has another variant with anti-slip 6-point ends. Thinking about those as a home gamer (in theory less chance of rounding off a fastener). But I do need a couple larger sizes (at least a 22mm). So will probably end up with some Gearwrench to fill out the set.

Japanese tools usually have a fair delay in delivery unless you spend extra and go thru an American vendor with stock on hand. Which there usually aren't many unless you are talking Common KOKEN tools, Vessel, Vamplier. But Tone, Nepros, Engineer(makers of VAMPLIER,only cheaper as they are the producers), etc... often have delays in the delivery. Sure you have experienced that B4. Just like newer released KOKEN products.

I like the craftsman but like you said I didn't like to skip so I didn't get it. I like double box flex heads on each side. I like Tektons set cuz there's 6 point with little slots that'll do 12 point fasteners also. I think the Harbor Freight icon set is just like the mountains or the easy red. Made in Taiwan rebranded You can probably get them about the same price maybe a little cheaper if they're on sale
