I'm proud to present my XATC (eXtremly simple automatic Tool Changer). The most ATC's for spindles cost around up to 2500 and more bucks. For me it's to expensive and i play a small braingame "If it possible to make this process more simple and cheaper?" and the Answer is "yes!".

I am appreciating your amazing accomplishment with your automatic tool changer. Your ability to use less-expensive components to function as you have is very impressive. The software would be well beyond my understanding, so I will enjoy the mechanicals and be very satisfied with that.

Frank, I must rename your project! It should be AMTC... Absolutely Magic Tool Changer!! The drawing & software are completely beyond me. but I will be delighted to use your software etc and build one for my home built machine You are a genius, Sir, and I salute you.

Do you have plans ? To purchase, ? this would be excellent for me because I am a quadriplegic, I have to have help , + 1 person , to help change bits, this would be invaluable to me.

Hi Frank, Nice work. I was thinking about the "shortcut" codes. TIMER = TIM --> TMR LEVEL = LEV --> LVL DELAY = LED --> DEL These are more commonly used abbreviations.

this will only allow to change tool with the same shank diameter - so very limited, but still smart. Thanks for sharing

Hey sehr gute Idee! Nett umgesetzt und gut erklärt. Danke dafür! Mir stellen sich allerdings noch 3 Fragen: 1. In der Praxis ,wie gut hält der POM Aufsatz auf der Spindelmutter auch bei 24.000 Umdrehungen und wie siehtes mit der Unwucht aus? 2. Ist der Motor überhaupt stark genug die Spindelmutter fest genug anzuziehen um das Werkzeug ausreichend zu sichern? 3. Wie verhält sich der Fräser nach getaener Arbeit und dem Werkzeugwechsel? Meine fallen nicht einfach so aus der Spindel wenn ich die Mutter löse, grade wenn sich Holz oder Carbonstaub in sämtliche Ritzen der Spannzange gesetzt haben.

Sicher es gibt noch eine menge zu tun :) ich habe den pom stopper so entwickelt das es keine unwucht geben wird. Auch denke ich ueber zwei schlitze nach die man in die mutter reinschleift damit der stopper seine Position behält. Ich habe dieses system für mein pcb fräs projekt entwickelt und dort treten keine grossen kräfte auf. Sicher für Aluminium oder stahl fräsen reicht das Drehmoment nicht aus, aber ich überlege mir schon eine Lösung dafür. Den halter habe ich so gebaut das das loch für den fräser ziemlich eng ist und dadurch der fräser beim lösen festgehalten wird. Man hört das auch im letzten videoteil, leichtes krachen beim herausziehen.

Have much torque can spindle hold not moving? for example I need my spindle to stay steady when I open and close collet nut without holding it with another wrench And if it's not damaging spindle?

Hi I just trying to get any information on have to set up ATC tab (screen) in mach3 but don't get any helpful information. Can you help with that have you set it up?
