X-Ring is right......SOLID PLATFORM. It's amazing to see many of these high end precision rifle makers products have the 700 fingerprints all over them. I own 4 700s. Two 7MM mags, 1 22-250 and my newest project is a 260 Rem. All of them are crazy accurate and have shut up many Tikka , Browning , Ruger and other fans when they see the performance. When other manufacturers make slight variances of the 700, that speaks volumes!!!

I couldn’t get a Tika in 6.5 in a chassis so bought one in a plastic stock. I was able to get a chassis system with a folding stock and went from 1/2” groups at 100 to 3/8”. My RPR is in a 308 and shoots 1/2” all day. My Remington 700 is in a 1.5 AI chassis with a Kreiger barrel and in 300 WM. It shoots 1/2” groups as well. As soon as all the hoopla and dust settles looking at a bolt rifle in a 6mm ARC and making an AR upper in 6mm ARC. The gun I’ve shot the best is actually a Thompson Compass II chambered in a 223 with 5R rifling and reloads of 24.7 grains of Varget and 55 grain fmjbt. But I shoot this rifle much more often than the others. After I found out that the tika barrels are glued in, I slowed down on shooting as I have about 2000 rounds through the original barrel. If replacing barrels on the Tika what do you recommend as a replacement barrel?

Think the biggest thing people worry about getting into long range shooting is what rifle to pick. They normally buy this 2-3k rifle with 400 dollar glass. My opinion and most opinion would be to buy expensive good glass and get a rifle like a predator or stock Remington 700. Most rifles out their shoot sub moa

Very nice, fine shooting as always I ran a 20" .308 TAC A1 for awhile, that i also had a RG2 on, and absolutely loved it. Pretty phenomenal value imo, really let me step up my bolt gun game. Did end up getting rid of it to get a CTR that i put in a German Gun Stock, and have been extremely pleased with that as well. Cant say my groups improved any, but i wanted something light weight. ~.4moa is the best i can squeeze out of mine consistently, with FGMM and Prime+ 175gr. Yodave trigger spring is a very worthwhile $10 investment, bringing that pull down to the 1lb area if desired. Tikka makes some really excellent rifles that fill the factory void, before you get into the top tier stuff. AI is definitely my dream rifle. Love em. Someday.

Great review. I've been shooting a Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 CM for the past two years and have been incredibly happy with it. With the right loads, easy to shoot .350 groups consistently. Is it worth thousands more to pay for smaller clover leaf groups? That's for the individual shooter to decide. With a kid still in college, for the money I'm more than happy with the Tikka :) The RPR is no slouch, either. Keep the reviews coming!

I got my pcr for $812 in .260 rem and put a Nikon fx1000 on it. I love the barrel that’s in it. My first time out with it I got .30 moa with h4350 and hornady eld-x and no real work put in to my loads I just ladder loaded by .5gr and seated to the magazine. The only thing I didn’t like about the gun is the chassis it’s self my finger wanted to drag the bottom of the trigger and trigger guard unless I gripped it weird I also didn’t like having to use high rings so on Black Friday I bought a lssxl chassis for it. The x mark trigger is ok , the screw sucks but the trigger is better than my dads early 90s 700 with a trigger job but not as good as the xmark on my wifes 2015 700 adl. I also put a 3 prong muzzle device on it just to protect the crow because I took it hunting this year and got a 6 point.

David Magowan My pleasure David and thanks for commenting. If price and weight were of no consideration I would go MPA all the way. Weight is a big factor with the MPA as it is the heaviest of all of these. Weight also gives stability, so as long as you don’t mind the weight you can’t go wrong. If I HAD to pick one for PRS/ Sniper style matches this would be my order. 1. MPA 2. Tikka 3. Remington PCR 4. Ruger RPR 5. Christensen For more Hunting and general purpose long range work it would change significantly. 1. Tikka 2. Christensen 3. Remington 4. Ruger 5. MPA

Well My Remington out shoots it every time.Both are in 6.5 CM And I've got the more expensive scope on the Tikka..a better Bipod and it doesnt matter if it's me behind the Tikka or my buddy.The cheap Rem. PCR dusts Tikkas ass. Why is that,? I know you are way more knowledgeable and a better marksman than myself so I'd really like your theory

@Charles Lindberg it could be it needs a heavier round. .I'm kind of disappointed in it .I expected it to shoot better.But in many things a higher price tag does not mean it better. The weekend before i was 2/9 at 1,850 yards on 18" competition steel and hit a milk jug at 1,400 with relative ease. Since the soda can in 3 shots at 1,004 yards was so dang easy i'm going for 1,400 yard soda can hit in 10 shots next week. I CANNOT say enough good things about the Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Great review! Thank you! I grew up hunting with bow and arrow, rifle and blow gun in Texas. Sadly, I now live in maryland😥. I go to the pistol range a lot but I want to get into precision long range shooting. Once I finish nursing school next year I will only be able to buy one rifle. And I'm leaning toward the Tikka. I'm left handed and have always shot with right handed rifles. Mostly because that's how I grew up and the military didn't have any left handed rifles for me either. Do you think shooting that way would present a problem in precision shooting?
@wesleyaispuro513
@wesleyaispuro513 3 жыл бұрын
Picking up my Tikka today! But to answer your question.. like he said, when it comes to precision shooting, it comes down to the fundamentals. If you're shooting straight and comfortable right handed, then that is what you're meant to do. You do want to make sure which eye you are dominant in. So if you are right eye dominant, then you should be shooting right handed. Hope this helps!

How much does that Remington weigh? I have a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 creedmore and I love that thing, but it's a heavy rifle. Great for when I shoot for fun, but not sure it would be such a good option for long range precision matches which I'm looking to get into later this year. I like the 6.5 CM platform but not wondering what a good competition rifle would be without breaking the bank (up to say $1200 or so for just the rifle, not including optics of course). Or would it be better to just save the money and use my RPR for matches?

I guess we could do a 20 shot group at 700 and compare them. 3 sets would get really expensive.

Nice shooting! What do you think about the Christiansen Arms Mesa in 6.5 Creedmoor? I know it’s not a chassis gun but it only weights in at about 6.5 lbs.

Thank you for the free info. I own a custom Tikka CTR and love it's groups but I must let the viewers know that the proprietary mags the CTR and Tact A1 use are problematic and outrageously expensive. I paid $220 + 13% tax and shipping for 1 extra mag here in Canada a year ago when I bought the rifle, and one of them has already stopped feeding and won't hold a round after only 500-600 rounds. I contacted the distributer and was basically told to pound sand ! Typical Canadian customer service. I ended up buying printed mags for $35 that work fine. C'mon Tikka the rifles are already way more expensive than comparable factory models that shoot just as well or better. I looked into the Rem PCR but the Magpul model is the Fuggliest rifle ever and the front rail is useless and also fuggly and other variations are non existent up here so I am looking into the Sig Cross they are a $1130 cheaper here than the Tikka.

The new version PCR comes with an MLOK rail so I’m definitely interested in using that as a decent entry recommendation for guys. Just curious- did you do your normal break in for the PCR (since it’s not your rifle) to end up with those groups. Cheers!

Drew S Hello Drew. I did not break in this rifle since it wasn’t mine. I know he only fired a few rounds and then cleaned it thoroughly afterwards using my technique. These groups were after the cleaning.

Hello. I appreciate your channel. I have what may be an unusual question. I've bought many many rifles but this is my first bolt action, and I went with the Remington 700 PCR in 6.5 Creedmoor after viewing your vids. The bolt shows a lot of wear including the black coating and the entire bolt and gun is dirty and has brass flakes all over. I sent photos over to Remington but they are taking days to get back to me. I've never been sold a new gun that clearly looks used. Is it possible that just a few rounds at the factory would cause the bolt to start to show silver through the coating? I have some AR's that I've shot a few hundred rounds through and the BCG's don't look nearly as used as the PCR does. The gun was New in the box and was shipped to my local FFL. I'm very disappointed. Please advise. Thank you.

Hello Bentley, It is possible to see wear on a bolt in a short amount of time. It really depends on how much it was “worked”. Brass flakes are also kind of normal on the bolt face after firing. I am not saying it isn’t used, I have no way of determining that. Maybe you were sent a “demo” model somehow. At this point, I would see how it groups. If it is a shooter then no harm no foul. If not, then I would wait for them to get back to you.

I am curious to know if the velocity was the same in all three rifles? I have an omega 300 suppressor and it changes the velocity. on my rifles an average of 50 feet per second.

That’s a phenomenon called suppressor boost. It adds 30 to 50 FPS to your MV.

Hi Ray, I was planning to get a Tikka T3X but seeing your results on Rem PCR and an enhanced version with M-LOK is available now I’m struggling to decide. Do you think this particular Rem is an exception or is it possible that Rem finally improved its production process and can deliver the accuracy consistently?

Which specific Timney trigger did you put on the PCR?
@KrisSays
@KrisSays 4 жыл бұрын
Why do you choose to grip (thumb on opposite side) verses (thumb on the same side)? Are you softly holding the grip or firmly? The main question I'm trying to get at is how are you not adding sympathetic contractions with your thumb while "isolating the trigger manipulation?" Thank you in advance! Great shooting!
