I gotta say this , I have watched my share of KZfaq videos of vehicles repair of many capable of professional mechanics and DIY mechanics, this guy who I don't know at all . Is an amazing speaker , teacher in any vocational school, or any automotive schooling , this man is a person you can listen and learn from easy to understand who ever you are, you should give kudo's who was your inspiration , thank you very much. I am an old school experienced DIY mechanic of 20 years and appreciate this kind of example on KZfaq .

I have done many head gaskets over the years, from small 4 cylinder engines all the way up to big tractor trailer engines. It's always fun (not) doing them. Had one that had a cracked head with the crack being so small that it couldn't be seen with the eye. Had to send it out and have it magnafluxed in order to find the crack. That was after replacing the gasket and reassembling everything and sending it out and have it come back the next day and having to pull it all back apart again. On a Z-28 I had that had a high performance engine, I even ran all metal head gaskets that were supposed to be blow proof.

What's your process for getting your head and block surfaces so dam clean??! Getting ready to do this exact job as soon as I get all parts delivered. One trick I've used to get the crank bolt off is prop the breaker bar against the engine bay and just barely touch off your starter and bam right off haha thanks for your videos and excellent description!

Emery cloth and sometimes very fine sand paper on the (block) then some brake cleaner and emery cloth on the head. Just go slow and take some breaks ;D

This is a very difficult vehicle to work on with some stupid desighns like all the 1/2 inch coolant hoses under the intake plenum. My question is can you change that short J shaped radiator hose under the distributor over to the left (if your looking at the engine) without taking the timing cover off and the timing pulleys to get that backing plate off? the fuel rail line runs pretty close to it Ive changed every rubber hose but this one and i did order it and i can probably cut it off but i dont know if i can get it on. that pipe it goes on is in this video on the back of the t stat housing. This vehicle has almost 300,000 miles and has all the original radiator hoses and they are hard as a rock. Some of the vaccum line crumbled in my hands so im replacing all the rubber

I just replaced my lower plenum, injectors, and rail. Thag hose was a bitch to get on. All I removed was the distributer. Just make sure you mark it. But I also already had my rail out

Nate did you do a video on the radiator flaw that nissans had during certain years that mixed the coolant and the tranny? What a mess and Nissan never acknowledged it I believe.

Does it has to be at TDC to do the head gasket or any position is fine to remove the head and put them back ?
@FixingWithPassion
@FixingWithPassion Жыл бұрын
Not really, but before you replace the timing belt, make sure all timing gears are aligned as factory specs indicate before rotating the engine to eliminate valve damage.

Everything else is running to rich.

I just bought an 02 Xterra but theres oil in one of the spark plugs causing a misfire. The driver side catalytic converter got read. I replaced the spark plugs and wires and apparently the code is gone. I'm concerned about the oil inside the spark plug. Do you think replacing the valve cover gasket would fix the problem? I haven't found any videos about it at least not on the 3.3 engine. I would appreciate any help!
