Despite plumbing the depths of the SFC and PCE rpg libraries for several years now I had never heard of this one before. Definitely looks like it's worth a try.

I finished this in 2019, I loved it. It is a more adult Earthbound and the appearance of aliens surprised me. As for the the encounter rate you can set your charka to lower the encounter rate. I love how level ups actually mean something

I'm finally doing a play through of this gem now and there are times when I'm forgetting this is an old 16-bit game. I'm liking it a lot so far!

Loving these videos about fan translated RPGs. I have recently set up a modded snes classic so have been scouring the internet for any obscure gems to play. Its great having these videos as a reference. There's so many good games that almost no westerners have played

If it has a fantranslation, then anyone can call it overlooked, lol. It's really a surprise that we're still getting fan translations of snes games in this day and age of indie games. The translation groups are still churning out 2 games per year, almost.

This is one of my favourite RPGs - story and graphics are super - although I think the translators got Basil the monk's age wrong - he is referred to as gramps in the game sometimes when clearly you can see on the original artwork he is child

I need to get back to this one. Played a few hours into after discovering it had been finally fully translated. I have a soft spot for over-the-shoulder for combat thanks to Phantasy Star heh.

So many to choose from! Your channel has given me the feeling of comradery. So many games with fond memories and many more I never got the chance to experience. Most of the games I played were rentals. Once emulation became a thing, I had little time to learn how to make it work properly, and with the fear of braking something I couldn't fix, it kept me away from much of it. Finding a clean rom to try something was difficult. To this day, I still can't figure out how to get M.U.G.E.N. working. I suck. lol😅

First of all thank you for covering this amazing game! I will have to say though, It's only an earthbound clone for the first hour of gameplay. After that is' really nothing like Earthbound other than quirky humor. I thought the game intentionally made itself seem like Earthbound in order to subvert your expectation when you play as a much older character thrust in much more adult situations. Doesn't feel like earthbound after that intro. To me it felt more like Terranigma for much of the game.

this game looks cool. I prefer over the shoulder IMMENSELY to first person. I strongly dislike not seeing your own character. It's one of the things that makes me not really that into playing the Earthbound/Mother series. Also why I'm not a huge fan of the original DQ games. I'm also a HUUUGE fan of your characters looking different when you equip different armor.

Memorable aspects include a bug that causes you to instantly level up to a very high level once your EXP gets high enough and a final boss that is....well. Both unexpected and thematically appropriate

i finally beat it damn, one of the best rpgs of all time

In the first few minutes of this video I immediately noticed the resemblance to Earth Bound, then with all the similarities you pointed out, it's obvious it is basically an Earthbound clone. But one thing I noticed about this games presentation that is superior to Earthbound is that during battle yoiu can actually see your own characters, something I feel Earthbound clearly lacks. To me, that makes a huge difference.

And now I know why its one of few rpgs on the snes I haven't played with it just now getting a trans hack. Im gonna download it tonight and play it.

I'm playing the game right now and it's ok at best. Without the easy patch, get ready to grind for HOURS. Some of the music is quite good but some tracks just go on your nerves.

This game plays like a more “Simple” Earthbound, in that you will not die as much when you first start, and saves the more complex stuff (The stuff that makes this game standout from the others) the “Chakras” for after you’ve had a bit of time with the game to see if you enjoy it. Fan translations for life, and thanks to this channel for showing me this little gem!

The most memorible part of this game, was when you go to the moon base and get hit by a truck of mixed emotions. Like when the alien parents mourn their son dying at Angkot Wat, which was your doing and then you can even decide to destroy the base or not

This game absolutely blew my mind, for SNES games I would go as far as saying this surpasses FF6.

Those Snake Demons in one of the dungeons look interesting, I am sure if this Fan Translation attracts a bunch of fans to this hidden gem of an SNES JRPG, there would be plenty of Fan Fiction material for this.

It looks more interesting than Earthbound based on what I'm seeing. I thought Earthbound is pretty overrated in term of gameplay.

As much as I think this game is indeed underrated and sadly overlooked, I can't personally feel comfortable playing the translation or supporting the work of the people that made it. Dynamic Designs are notorious for heir far-right extremist ideologies and open supporters of racists and bigots, who actually have, on more than one occasional been guilty of inappropriately inserting harmful, toxic and fascist ideologies and support for such individuals into the translations of various games, completely unprovoked and out of the blue in the past, when absolutely none of this was included in the original Japanese version of those past games and translation projects, and promoting their own political views by re-writing and changing the source material. I can't support or reasonably enjoy anything Dynamic Designs works on, knowing what they've done in the past and the kinds of people they are. It would be one thing if they kept this out of their translation and localization work, but the fact that they've blatantly inserted their own politics into rom hacks and altering the original Japanese source material to do so, leaves me unable to support their work.

The weird negs on earthbound feel unwarranted when you realize earthbound itself was largely a remake of Mother 1. You could do a video about Earthbound and have all the sideways comments showing Mother 1 videos while being pithy.

you joke but this game is 1,000X better than Earthbound in every way. Like not a joke Earthbound sucks and I'm sick of people pretending its anything but a good idea done horribly. If that garbage can get this much rope then G.O,D should get no such criticisms
