Sagiri is shunned by other children because of the clan's bad reputation from their profession of making corpses of people and then utilizing those corpses for sword testing or medicine etc. And her doubts are more unique to her as the other Yamada members including her father look down on her for being a female following the path of the samurai. My understandings of 'simp' wouldn't qualify someone like Gabimaru, it's his wife not some random girl that wouldn't reciprocate the feelings he is showing them after great efforts from his side. So far, how he has acted towards his wife is as much as you'd expect any person with their partner. It was originally said as a sort of offense, either short for simpleton or calling a person a sycophant, so not very kind. The way some have tried to change it to a more positive connotation is as weird as 'stan' being positively used while it's shorthand for 'stalker fanatic'. Calling someone a simp as a joke is one thing, but some really do seriously defend the use of simp as a positive term and way for people to act, often those doing the simping or those that are being simped for.

Something similar happened in Christian Europe with the professions seen as impure as well in the Middle Ages. Just trying to help in case someone is confused why that would be seen as bad besides the obvious not wanting to kill, there's a societal price to pay and a religious connotation as well.

Personally, it sounds like a plot to get rid of the Yamada clan to me, or at least weaken them. They've probably written off everyone getting on this boat. 21:00 While I don't remember hearing anything about the fate of Sagiri's father in the episode, I think that her conflicts with the other children were more about what her family did for a living. Working so closely in death, their neighbors would tell the kids to stay away from "those people" and the kids took that as permission to be little s**ts. The stigma still exists (probably) to this day. For more details, look up Burakumin.

That bandit king Chobe character’s design reminds me of Bakugō so much. Also the carrying the burden of the dead imagery kinda reminds me of Thorfinn’s endeavors in Vinland Saga in a way.

1st reaction I've seen of this. No saving best for last. Guess I got to eat desert 1st. Loved the 1st episode so much I changed my profile pic. 2nd episode was just as good if not better. To think I never heard of Hells Paradise until a few weeks ago. Out of the 12 spring anime I'm now watching its easily my favorite early on. NOW let's get to this reaction...

The original definition of simp (before it got so overused, that people obviously forgot its original meaning) is someone, usually a man, who is so down bad for a woman that doesn't gaf about him, that he will do anything... Anything... ANYTHING for some p*ssy that he will never receive from her. Assuming from your profile pic, you're a woman, so I'm sure you've heard of the phrase "nice guy." Another example are those a**holes that will gift sexy female streamers thousands of dollars and not realizing that she will never personally give them the time of day. Simps are basically people who will embarrass, humiliate, and emasculate themselves for painfully obvious unrequited love. People are upset because calling Gabimaru a simp is objectively wrong. He's married and the object of his affection genuinely loves him back, which is the exact opposite of what a true simp is. Naruto is a simp for Sakura. Sakura is a simp for Sasuke. Brock, Sanji, and Mineta are simps for every woman they come in contact with. You call yourself a simp, but would you ever run in the middle of a street buck naked with tattoos of your favorite characters covering your privates in order to profess your love for them? I have zero idea wft Anthony Spencer is talking about.
