Dam good catch I didn't notice that. This is a series I cannot wait to rewatch once it's finished.

Obviously, I love what the writers are doing with the show. But in the book Mariko was never jealous. Blackthorn and Mariko were never fighting. When they entered the Willow World Mariko told Blackthorn that she loves him and that she was his and only his that night. But she has a husband and cannot offer herself so she gifts the best courtesan available in town in place of her. In the morning, Mariko never showed up. Blackthorn was accompanied by Kiku to the gate and she waited for him at the gate until he disappeared around the corner. This was a great honor meaning the night went really well and Mariko was really proud of Blackthorn when she heard this. Also there's always the mention of how well endowed Blackthorn is compared to Japanese men. The villagers thought he really satisfied Kiku when he used his Jade Spear to enter the Jade Cave.🤣🤣🤣

@@TheDiabeticGamer_ Don't take someone who's clearly a loser too seriously. I'm taking the show slowly myself and am a moderate fan of the games -- so far it's pretty enjoyable. It could be better but it's a low seven at minimum.

Yall just mad that Blackthorn has the audacity to talk back when he understands CLEARLY that he's being used for politics and their own goals since the beginning of his arrival to Japan, it's not the matter of respect, he IS a hostage, but he is also a prideful man and acts like it. Lowkey hesitant with his own duties and goals and integration into foreign culture. Not one character in this series is good and kind-hearted, every single one has an agenda for their own benefits, people just tend to sympathize more with John, cause they are just as clueless to what's going on behind the curtains and it easier to understand his motives, than Toranaga's.

I feel the same way. I think they just focused too much on Mariko and Blackthorn's relationship which is meant to be a slow development and so for me the episode was just very stagnant in the overall plot.
