Finally I figured out where the clock display was! It wasn't intuitive nor obvious. Thanks for the video showing how to get to it and the GPS display.

Loving these videos bud. I’ll be getting my Ft3 hopefully tomorrow. I’ve been drooling over it since it cane out lol. Fells like I know a lot of this radio already just buy watching your channel. Please add a APRS video on how to turn it on and set time intervals between beacons and how to change the icon and most important how to send messages. I would really appreciate it. 73 Kn6mat

Hey Frank I Did my homework and asked around and I got APRS up and running. Here’s the settings to adjust APRS Setup Frequency B: 144.390 APRS 4: Modem:1200bps APRS 8: mute on Beacon tx 16:Auto Beacon Interval 14: 1 Minute(for testing) Digi Patch: P3 Gps power 20: on Smart beaconing 27: Off or Type 3(walking)

Frank Romero I’ve heard a few different options for squelch level. One being leave it wide open and turn volume down on ch B. One guy said keep squelch about 50%. I tried the squelch at 1 and got my beacon out in the city twice. Good luck and let me know l. 73 Kn6mat

Frank Romero I haven’t tried the radio in my truck yet but I know someone with a ft2d that always had trouble sending beacons while in their car. The radio would interfere with his truck stereo

Frank Romero just an update. Today my son and I was out doing a little exploring out near Big Bear Lake. I had the radio turned on and APRS was running and I got my beacon out. Look me up on APRS.fi kn6mat-7 so I think it’s an elevation thing. The city is a tough spot to beacon a 5 watt radio.

Does the radio work as a simple compass ? Or do you have to key-in the North Pole as a keypoint to get it to point North ?

Frank. It seems ridiculous that with the gps & the compass rose already on the screen that it doesnt actually operate a simple compass. I guess though that if you input the North Pole's coordinates into one of the fixed locations then the pointer will always point North, which is good enough. If you try it please let me know, thank you.

Maybe a firmware update may include a compass ? It's not difficult.

How can they advertise usefulness to Search & Rescue and not include a simple compass, given it's already gps ability. Madness.
