YAESU FTdx10 Safe External Monitor,NEW & CHEAP!
After reading about the horror stories regarding this radio as well as the FT 101D and maybe the ft710 i thought I would try and take the risk out of using DVI-D to HDMI Converters and source a DVI monitor that wasn’t expensive but still readily available.
Here is the link to the AOC Monitor from Amazon:

Thank you ! This video will probably save many from the problem ! 🙏 . Yaesu besides choosing a stupid Video connector (although mechanically much better than HDMI !) totally screwed up the job electronically ! but worst of all is the LACK OF ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE DANGER OF CHIP DAMAGE ON THE MAIN BORD IN THE FABRICALLY CONNECTED MANUAL ! . Great radio ! and here such a blunder . Greetings GL & 73 ! 👍👍👍👍

@@gtretroworld yes same monitor.. he's also tried two cables thinking it may be a duff lead.. the radio is set to on yet the monitor will not receive/pick up the feed from the radio, the monitor is also set to digital receive mode so that's not the problem.. it was when he fired it back up after not using the radio for a few weeks the monitor just wouldn't pick up the radio, we've been trying different things with it like factory setting the monitor to no avail.. he's now thinking the radio is the issue.. You can use a hdmi monitor as long as your dvi d to hdmi lead is unidirectional and not bidirectional. The fuse that blows in the radio is a surface mount and not a conventional type.
@gtretroworld
@gtretroworld Жыл бұрын
You could but those are normally USB powered and most folk won’t be using anything like them.Also by the time you pay for that cable this monitor is not a lot more. I see recently this fuse issue has been addressed in the FT710 with the use of a Polyphasor resetting fuse as well as a bit of ESD protection.

Definitely not worth the risk. The issue is hdmi straight through cables wont block hdmi bi directional voltage comands that a modern tv might send into the radio. I think some hdmi only monitors might be safe but im not finding out. I called yaesu on my new ft710 and like the 10 they recommended either use dvi d monitors or some sort of multi converter box unit. I picked up a dell 19 inch pc monitor from local goodwill thriftstore $7.49 and a $12 dvi d sheilded 10 foot cable from my local pc recycling store. Ive noticed on my 710 the resolution is ok on monitor but not as sharp as radio. Good video and similar prices in states on amazon. 73 from kg7hvr
