Great video!! I love Yamaha products and I’ve been thinking about getting a 255, went to the Miami Beach Boat Show yesterday and saw it in person, WOW what a nice boat. However I’m hesitating because of the amount of seaweed we get in south FL. I had a 98 seadoo sportster 18 many years ago and it was a PITA dealing with that. I know Yamaha is different and the new boats are a lot better now so let’s see. Thanks for the video, impressive how the 210 handled the waves!!

We get our share of sea weed here in Texas as well. These newer models have “clean out ports” under a hatch at the stern so you don’t have to get in the water. I sucked up a large piece of plastic bag on the way back from the Bimini Islands that the intake grates stopped before coming into the jet screws. That’s the only debris I’ve ever had to get wet for. The 255 came out right after i got this 210 so I was a bit upset. All in all it’s a GREAT boat. Yamaha put a lot of thought into the layout.
@marcosrestrepo7851 Жыл бұрын
Have a 212S and although I’m liking the boat a lot, getting debri in the Jets is a Pain in the butt. The clean-out ports definitely come in handy, but still… About 2 months ago i got really clogged with seaweed at pompano/boca raton lake. They’re however, very fun boats, each type had their pros and cons

Thanks for the comment. One of the best features of this dual jet drive is that there are no trim tabs. You just point & GO! Also, since there is no lower unit you can actually put it into reverse and stop on a dime if needed… although you need to let your crew know before you launch them over the bow lol.

@@Ggordon3321 My mind is set Brother... This will be my next boat. The Room & Rod Storage is superior to all Bow Rider Ski/Fish boats. When I put this Minn Kota Ulterra on it I wont have to worry about learning the 2 Throttles. It's going to glide even smoother. 🤝🤝 Selling the Vette next week & I'll have this boat in 2023... 👍😉

Hi DCC from Texas! The flag poles are from Amazon “Cool Water Products The Original Rod Holder Boat Flag Pole - No Flag (4 Foot)” and are $39.00 each. Silly question, how does the camera pan around like that automatically. Is there a person holding the camera there?

Wow great video, scary video too. I’d be focused on my GPS, that area is not a place to screw up. I’m really interested in the details of your filming set up. I’m assuming your wife was doing the filming on a stick? What camera and software? As film maker I would like to add this technique to some of my future videos. Thanks! Glad all is safe.
@Ggordon33212 жыл бұрын
Howdy Captain from Texas! I’ve done the oil rig trips 100+ times, but never turned around so quickly. I was more focused on the waves in front & behind coming in, and thought I was still lined up with the jetty (lesson learned). The camera is a GoPro 360 mounted on an extendable painters pole located in the rear port side rod holder. The camera makes the “stick” disappear and captures EVERY angle (look up my Bimini vids on KZfaq) which is really cool! GoPro has software to play back/edit their 360 footage and you pinch/zoom/rotate to the angle you like and insert a position marker (rinse & repeat for the rest of the video). Once happy with the camera pans/zooms you render the video and it saves it as you have it edited. I keep the “raw” 360 footage also for viewing years later if needed. I polish it with LUMAFUSION for titles & transitions. All editing is done on my iPad which is GREAT! Thanks for the comment & thanks for watching!

My Concern is water entry in the cabin when seas are at anything larger than 2.5 feet while being anchored. I wont go out if waves are forecasted 2.5 or bigger but sometimes there are ocasional 3 foot rollers on a flat day. How does the boat do in those conditions?
@Ggordon3321 Жыл бұрын
I’ve had it in 6-8’ swells (4-5 seconds or more apart) in the Texas Gulf on accident coming in from off shore and also crossing over to Bimini from Florida. The boat handles fine anchored or driving fairly slow. Anything real fast (25 mph+) in those kind of seas mean’s you’ll catch air, so I never go out in seas THAT large. 3-4 foot rollers while anchored is nothing but it’s not ideal conditions for fishing.

@Ggordon33212 жыл бұрын
Howdy from Texas! The Yamahas can suck up weeds on occasion (especially at slow speeds) but easy to clean out. I try to avoid large patches when I can. At speed the engines will just “blow out” small stuff with no performance effect. The 252 has a MUCH larger fuel capacity than the 210 and we took an extra 15 gallons with us to Bimini to be safe. My tank is ~50 gallons and we burned about 1/3 tank on the way back with flat seas. This platform is solid and I’m sold on Yamaha products! Thanks for the comment & for watching.

Hi Rickey. I LOVE the jet engines (and the boat). They have plenty of power and the wide open stern is wonderful for fishing and playing. Low speed steering & docking was a new skill, but once mastered the dual engines make it really maneuverable while docking. My wife and I crossed from Florida to the Bimini Islands (90 miles across the Atlantic), so big seas are not new. There’s a big difference between swells and breaking waves. Sometimes life puts you in a bad spot. You can adapt and hopefully overcome or roll over and lose. I choose to overcome.
