I would expect the ydp-164 to be superior due to a higher price, but I have a ydp-144 and it is great, especially for beginners. Most beginners will start off really enthusiastic but might not stick to playing piano even if they think they will. I had an old Casio CTK-551 keyboard for 20 years, which I would play inconsistently, on and off. Only now as a 34-year old adult, I'm thinking of taking real private piano lessons because I have started playing consistently (and I only upgraded to ydp-144 because my old keyboard is having problems). I couldn't be happier with the ydp-144, the sound is so beautiful, and it feels very realistic based on my experience touching acoustic pianos in the past. If someone can afford the ydp-164 go for it, but if you are a beginner, you still will have a long way to go and a ydp-144 might be a much better choice to start with.

Im really hesitant in getting this piano because I have to order it from a city other than main that I won’t have any chance to try it before buying. I have never touched a piano with weighted keys so it will be a new experience for me. Do you think the differences between this model and the Kawai KDP 120 deserves the 500 $ extra money?(the things I really liked in the kawai are that it has louder and better speakers and it provides Bluetooth connection as well as it’s ivory and cushioned keys)

@@hyderaljbory5845 I can't really answer your question, but I can tell you that I am very happy with my Arius 144. I don't really use bluetooth or any of the extra stuff so it also depends on your needs. My piano instructor is excellent and has a lot of experience playing different pianos and he said the Arius 144 is really good.

@Khal Drogo BR it's never a waste to learn on a good instrument (now whether if Yamaha are one of those is not for me to judge), the keys are not gonna wear off and if you're not gonna throw stuff at the piano it should keep up for a good few years. My last piano was Casio that i got a decade ago and that traveled with me a lot and it was great for learning (it was about 500$ when my parents bought it for me), even after a decade it was as good as it was when i first got it. I got the 144 version now since I don't really care for the 3rd sensor - I'm not gonna play concerts on it. Hope it helps a little.

You're making me consider getting the ydp-164. Previously I was looking into an Alesis Recital Pro, then a Yamaha P125, and then a Yamaha Ydp-144, and now this, I can tell this won't disappoint.

What similar digital piano with the 3 sensors, mentioned as an important investment for the learning journey, would you recommend equal or under the YDP144 price range? I believe you have to use the pedal Viktor. The YDP range is trying to get as close to a regular piano as possible, I think. Very few bells and whistles. The Clavinovas have loads more built in sounds and reverbs, etc.

you’re probably not a beginner anymore but i will answer this anyway :) of course it is suitable for beginners, but that doesn’t mean I would recommend it. a high quality digital piano is a massive investment, and as a beginner you can’t be sure that you’ll enjoy the instrument or be committed enough to justify the price. I have been playing for four years on a yamaha np-31 and only bought the 164 yesterday, it’s fantastic but i’m super glad i waited to make sure this was what I wanted. let me know how you’re getting on!!

It is a piano with an older sound, very similar to the Yamaha P45, it also uses GHS on the keys, but in my opinion a Yamaha P125 with a cabinet would be better than the YDP103

@@ibrahimqutaiba3701 Ohh, that's good, the CLP 635 is much better than the two pianos in the video, mainly because they have a binaural CFX sound and a Bodendorfer piano, also the keys are quite heavy with a professional acoustic piano, I have tried it and I really like, greetings from Peru

Yamaha CLP 625 I check and like ....what is best for me ....yd’s 164 or Yamaha CLP 625 ......price range is no matter.....who is best for beginners and up class learner’s.......in CLP 625 don’t compatibility Yamaha smart pianist app .....as absent any difficulty to learn piano........I am a beginner......

Exactly, the Clavinova is a superior range despite the CLP625 being the cheapest of the Clavinova CLP

Definitely the CLP625 - although similar, the CLP625 has escapement mechanism which gives an added level of realism which just tips it over the edge in my opinion... :) - isaac

@@xXCloudFantasiXx Unless you go to your local Yamaha dealer and negotiate a lower price. The dealer in my area will come down on the CLP price to equal the cost of the YDP, because they believe the Clavinova is so much better a piano than the Arius family of pianos.

Sadly, they don't sound the same. The YDP 164 sounds better than the 144. But thank you for playing the exact same thing on both. For me, the choice will be either the YDP 164 or 165.
