Hi, i just would like to share my experience in order to help people to choose. (I have an upright Ronisch p118K but I was looking for a digital piano because I just moved into an apartment). Then, since 6 months, I tested several pianos. Yamaha 600series (635/645/675) Roland LX705 (and others models) Korg G1 Air And the Casio GP300 Kawai CN27/ CA78 Results : G1 air The worst one, bad sound, bad touch but good price 635/645/675 good sound (CFX sample) but the feel is too bad, it looks like my old clp 860, the touch is too bouncy, too hard, too digital even with the wooden keys (645/675). Casio gp 300 it was just middling, decent sound decent touch but I was not really enjoyed Roland Lx705 the esthetic is pretty good and the touch is interesting compared to the others Roland pianos but the sound was to digital for me, like its came from a computer not an acoustic instrument Kawai : CN27 interesting for the price, the touch and the sound CA78 : YOU CAN FORGET ALL THE REST, the grand feel 2 action is amazing, for the first time of my life, I enjoyed playing a digital piano. The preset SK EX sound is good is not my favorite, but you can ajust it with lots of settings, then you can reproduce a kind of CFX or Bossendorfer or anything else 👌👌👌. Fact is there were no Kawai piano in my city, and all the sellers were really critical and sceptic about Kawai. I made an 1h30 travel for try Kawai and that was one of the best decision I took. The feeling of kawai ca78 (same touch with CS8 and ca98) is unbelievable. Thanks to reading me, hope my text can help some people. Bye ✌ (From France)

@Maafa 1619 you are right for one thing. The garritan cfx is miles ahead sound wise. Where it hit problem is in playability. Has a serious piano player and composer nothing come close to the rolamd modelling engine specially the lx708. The keyboard really is connected to the sound. Nost digital piano have a 256 polyphony limit...and a top of 128 layer of velocity ( midi limit)roland has 16000 velocity layer per note. And unlimited polyohony. If you find the sound digital you can simply adjust every single key to your liking. All parameter are tweakable...soundboard switch... number of string... etc etc. Personnaly i think the futur is in modelling. While it might be a easier out of the box solution to have great sample... this isnt good for student to learn on sampled digital piano has they are very forgiving. When i tried the lx708 for the first time..it wasnt forgiving..there is no latency...there is nothing to hide your bad playing. Evrething reaxt in realtime like a real grand and this is the first digital piano ever that i feel this way.

@@naiagp6952 kawai are excellent but they are behind roland in term of engine . Roland offer unlimited polyphony while kawai is limited to 256. Roland offers also modelling with 16000 layer of velocity per note while kawai used sampled limited to couplea layer per keys. The match is not even close. A roland pure modelling acoustic piano such as the lx708 is unforgiving like a real grand. It produce tone in real time. Kawai are still using samples...

@@Colosphonium as a classical pianist and most used to play big upright pianos as Yamaha U3 and grand pianos I really prefer Kawai, for my personal taste it's better for playing classical music. But for another kind of music, for using some programs, composing and so on I don't have any idea!

I'm listening to this on a neutral set of cans: the AudioTechnica MSR7's. On close to full volume, what stands out is how good these instruments all sound. They do have different character, but their quality is quite comparable. The Yamaha is bright and even. The Kawai has a deep bass that is still soft sounding. The Roland sounds actually subtle and delightful. All three I would enjoy listening too. What a problem if you had to pick one!

I absolutely love Yamaha, and Roland. I have a Roland Digital Piano and I love it. I’ve never really heard a Kawai digital piano, but when I heard it, I was absolutely blown away. The deeper tone and high end tone is so subtle. I favour Kawai over Roland and Yamaha if I’m being honest, but it comes down to preference.

The keyboards of these pianos try to mimic the feel of a real grand piano. How well do they do in comparison with the digital pianos that come with true grand piano actions like the Yamaha Avantgrands and the Kawai Novus. Taking the price out of the equation and looking only at the control and the feel, would a Kawai Novus NV10 or the new Yamaha AvantGrand N1X be a considerably better piano or are we talking about nuances that might matter only for the best pianists?

I bought the Roland S1 2 years ago and it shares alot of features with the LX-7 and the new LX-706. I really like the sound, looks and feel of this beauty but I understand the crticism of the sound being too digital. However you are able to tweak the sound alot and it is possible to get rid of the "sanitary" sound to some extent.

Well these models may be superceded by now, but the interesting thing is the variance of opinions. Bonner's are correct - you really do have to try the pianos yourself to get a full impression. So, just superficialIy now: I enjoyed all three, but the Kawai (Shigeru) less. It's so boomy in the bass. Yamaha is so even and pretty. It wins (yet again) for me.

Casio GP300 doesn't allow to save your sound modifications (user presets), a feature kids keyboards have. Very unprofessional from Casio. Keep in mind this. Also GP300 has some sort tinier sound than GP500, it's not completely the same. Check out the review www.reidys.com/blog/casio-bechstein-gp300-vs-gp500-grand-hybrid-comparison-review-1271/ In my opinion, there isn't a big difference between them, all sounds beautiful, buy the one you like most and live with it. Unavailability to save presets is a big letdown for GP300 though. You can see comparison between CS8 and CA78 here www.kawai-global.com/product_comparison/detail.php?n=1689,3005&ct=36 The biggest difference I see, CS8 comes only in Ebony Polish finish. Also CA78 has Bluetooth audio support, I guess important for home users.

Hi, I am unable to decide between KDP 110 and Rp 501r/ 302, (and may be Yamaha ydp 164) . Frankly the Roland sound is not at all pleasing to me. I love the kawai timber. But Roland has escapement in its action and few other features. Should I be choosing Action over sound?? Need your valuable suggestions on this. My usage is mainly for contemporary, classical, jazz pieces and most importantly for songwriting and vocal accompaniment. Hoping to receive a reply.

Its very clear each one sounds different in a beautiful way. To me Yamaha notes were very open and clean , Roland notes were like Yamaha notes carved smaller and given a very smooth circular finish and slightly bend inwards towards the end ,very beautiful and Kawai sounded like Roland notes streached and made bigger and open .To me at this level when we compare similer level of pianos its all about what type of sound just hits you. There may be a little difference in speaker system but the sound quality of each one of then is just beautiful .

Mark Joseph Pagsuyuin, I would lie if I tried to answer your question since I’ve never ever played on CLP-675. But from my own experience with Yamaha digital pianos in general, Kawai’s sound is not that bright and a bit better balanced (to my ears). Yamaha always sounds bright, clear and crisp to my ears... and that’s not exactly what my ears like. However since you have Virtual Technician on board I think you can get to the point where the sound on Kawai is very close to what you’re looking for. Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that CA is superior over CLP. I think this is a matter of individual taste and preferences. @@labradog05, the only advice I have for you is to try it out at the store. While setting up the appointment check if there is any sales person who knows Kawai's digital pianos from user's perspective. This way it should be fairly easy for you to test different sound patches and apply your own Virtual Technician adjustments if needed to feed your ears with what you find pleasant. I love last two iterations of Kawai's CA pianos, especially CA7x/9x but it might not be for everyone and the only way to know if it's right for you is to spend some time with one of them. *Spoiler: if you don't have a budget for CA99 or even CA79 do not test them. Go with CA49 and you will be happy. Once you try CA79/CA99 there's no turning back. Your senses were spoiled and your mind is poisoned. From this point you can only buy NV5 or get yourself a proper acoustic piano :)

Roland sounds most "digital" to me. Yamaha sounds a little less 'digital'. Kawai sounds least 'digital' which means Kawai is best among those three in terms of sound.

Yeah I agree. The Roland sounds like an artificial piano sound. The Yamaha and Kawai sound much more natural. But personally I would say the Yamaha sounds best.

I agree. The Roland sounds too digital. It sounds like a cheap keyboard. My preference was the Yamaha, which I found more balanced and sounds like an acoustic piano. Kawai was too bold for my liking.

Can u make a vedio comparing between Yamaha CLP 645 and Roland HP 605 which one is better ?
@BB-kw5bz
@BB-kw5bz 5 жыл бұрын
I played them both and between those two I would prefer the CLP 645. The Roland hp 605 with its semi-wooden keyboard plays not as nice as other brands. However it might have the best electronics in this price range (starting with the CA 78 I think Kawai took the lead now with their new models). But also check out the Kawai CA 58 with their good compact wooden keyboard and surprisingly the Casio GP-300 that may actually have the best keyboard in this price range. No clear answer here. You just need to find out what you prefer. I personally see the Roland at fourth place among those models mentioned above.

Why is Kawai so difficult to get in the U.S. ? :S
@davidavard8461
@davidavard8461 4 жыл бұрын
I imagine it is combination of many factors. First, they don't have the brand recognition that Yamaha or Roland have, so they are harder to find (fewer stores carry them), and therefore, fewer people have played them. Less stores means less sales, so, less units shipped to the US. Thanks to KZfaq, more people are discovering how good Kawai's digital pianos are and are willing to search them out. So, demand has shot up in the past few years, outstripping Kawai's ability to supply them to the US market. The limited supply also might explain why the prices on the furniture models (CA & CN series) seems to be so much higher than prices in other countries (compared to the portable models which are similar).

I'm from Singapore and one of our dealers here was telling me that Kawai doesn't seem to like to work with dealers. That in addition to the lack of physical stores makes them pretty exclusive.

The Roland is bell-like, the Yamaha is bright and full, lacking a bit in character imo, while the kawai is mellow and bassy. I usually prefer the sound of the Kawai but in this video it sounded a bit.. muffled and thin?

@@misstangshan95 Exactly although I was positively suprised by the sound of Roland. I think Kawai and Yamaha both do a great job but its about the sound you like the most. Because also acoustic piano brands differ from character and brightness. In the end I think I go with the Kawai but the only thing that is holding me is the bouncing keys. The keys seem to bounce a bit too much so its harder to play the fast pieces.
