Not at all Moises, I think so too! The only issue for me is that when its over 50/60 mph, that sound can’t be heard anymore… if it weren’t for that, probably I would be rocking the stock exhaust for a good while before swapping

Decat and I think it would actually be really nice, it's just a bit too quiet for what I like but it does sound really good. I haven't heard it from the 3rd person (until this video which has the best sound quality test I've seen so far), but on the bike all you really hear is the intake noise.
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
@@hendrxx_ thanks! I've tried my best to capture the sounds from the outside on most different applications and it turned out alright. If you want sounds from the rider perspective, there are plenty of POV videos on the channel running stock and akra exhausts. How would you compare the two?
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
@@corruptionoutdoors I would compare them as a sports car from Aston Martin and a sports car from Nissan. The AM is more refined, fast but smooth/composed and has better build quality (with a higher price tag as well). The Nissan is the maximum bang for the buck, fully customizable and overflowing character but lacks refinement on finishing touches. Translating that feedback to these bikes, its exactly the same.

The stock isn’t all that bad indeed. The problem for me is that after 50mph, you can’t hear the bike anymore… on all other occasions it is nice, but not all. The akra is way better at that, because not only makes the bike audible in all conditions, but also adds pops and crackles when quickshifting up and down. So much fun!

Great video and comparison. As with most similar videos, I think a lot of the tone is lost in the recording. It's hard to really compare without hearing it in person. As a 2021 MT-09 owner, I think the Akra is definitely an audible upgrade. However, I'm not sure it's enough of an upgrade to warrant the price considering it's probably the ugliest Akra exhaust I've ever seen. The stock exhaust actually sounds *really* good in my opinion, and while I'm definitely willing to pay the price to upgrade to an aftermarket exhaust, I'm happy enough with the stock to wait for a more aesthetically pleasing option (like the Yoshi) to become available.
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
I cannot agree more with your statement here! I am 100% getting the Yoshimura system for this bike, as it looks amazing compared to this and others. I even preordered it, but after 3 weeks waiting for news, they (Yoshi folks) got back to me stating that those AT2 pipes are only going to be produced February next year, so I got this Akra as a temporary option because even though the OEM exhaust sounds somewhat nice, it does so only at speeds below 60 mph. Above that, the wind noise muffles everything. This Akra is hideous and does not match the character and aesthetic of this new bike at all! As soon as I get my hands on the Yoshi, I am selling this one to the highest bidder hahahaha
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
And also youre right about the sounds captured versus in-person. I did my best to get as close as possible with the hardware that I have (go pro hero 9 with media mod directional mics) and after hearing the result, I can say that it corresponds with about 70% of what it sounds in reality for both exhausts. The biggest difference to me are the quickshifts with the Akra, as the mic doesn't record the "pop" properly from the ignition cut. That doesnt happen with the OEM exhaust - or rather it happens, but gets totally silenced by the emissions system.
@nethermorph83752 жыл бұрын
@@IgorBrandao Interesting, I spoke with Yoshi a couple of weeks ago and they told me I could expect their AT2 to ship around December this year, but yeah I wouldn't be surprised if that got delayed. Regarding the audio quality, I think you did a great job compared to other videos out there. There's only so much you can do to capture the tone, but the what gets me is when the before/after is just a start up, 3 second idle and a rev bomb. Tells you nothing. All those ride-bys and decels you did painted a much clearer picture and definitely validated my feelings about the Akra vs stock exhaust sounds/looks. Thanks again!
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
@@nethermorph8375 right! I made the startup and rev bombs trying to bring as many scenarios I could think of, but I agree 100% that fly by and pass by are the ones that come the closest to capture what it really is like on real life. And about the Yoshimura AT2 system, they are all over the place with their dates… I still have my preorder going so hopefully it comes on December like they told you. Hey, why did you get rid of your street triple to get this? Can you state your opinion on the comparison and what you think between the two?
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
Hi Coba! I didn’t want to sell the Street Triple at the time I did… I bought it new and had it for only 1 year. I had to sell it because my work had me moving countries, and importing it was uneconomical to do. I simply love that bike and can’t say enough good things about it. Should the opportunity come, I will own another one for sure! And as to why I got the MT09, it wasn’t to replace the STriple. It was just because I always wanted to try it out and its great for growing the channel, as it has much more popularity that the Triumph. As to the quick opinion you requested, even though they have similar prices and specs, to me they are completely different purposes. MT09 is just like muscle V8s with plenty of power and torque to have you smiling at every pull. Its great for wheelies just as the muscles are good at burnouts, but is a bit lacking on premium finishes, touches and sophistication. Its the bang for the buck power option! OTH the street triple is your European v8 sports car. Still pulls like a demon, but does so more progressively instead of aggressively. Has great materials and finish quality, but comes with an adjusted price tag for that! Bottom line is: there is no better option, you should choose the bike that suits your personal preference and riding style!

With OEM ignition timings and fuel, it is practically the same, but the handling is much different (for the better) because the new bike has a very different chassis construction, which affects how the bike transfers weight and corners. So OEM it is already a good improvement from previous gen, and if you intend on flashing the ECU, then you're in for a treat! In about an hour, the video testing out the motorcycle with a flashed ECU will premiere so make sure to see that so you can make a decision after seeing the whole picture!

I got the racing exhaust my friend and the baffle on it is held by a single bolt. If you got the road exhaust, then the baffle is welded in the pipe… you may be able to break the weld by drilling into it, but be careful not to damage the exhaust too much!

It does run okay without it, and even akra says you wont need a flash on the ecu to have it, but I wouldn’t recommend running it stock for a long time (2yrs +)

Does an MT09 have an EXUP?

What is an EXUP?
@delavorexindustries26982 жыл бұрын
@@IgorBrandao A valve Yamaha uses inside of exhausts, not something you want to remove if the bike has it. From what I know the only purpose that would ends up being beneficial is the gain of high end performance but at a loss for low end, milage, and over engine function. Although I'm not a Yamaha mechanic so I would definitely find someone more credible on that.
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын

Definetely waiting on more exhausts to come out for my 21 SP. I'm not 100% sure, but i think the Akra is heavier than the OEM exhaust as well because on Akra's website they don't even say the weight reduction from the switch, like they do with all their other exhausts. also the dynos they put out were super inflated/ confusing to make it seem like you get a larger torque/hp bump than what's there stock. Noise wise, it definitely sounds better/meaner but not $1000+ justifiable. But that's just like my opinion man. It's a little frustrating buying a new gen bike especially during covid where companies are struggling to get the raw materials to make aftermarket parts. Let alone Yamaha struggling to make/ship the new MT09 in a lotta places. And even when they do, they're gone within a day.
@IgorBrandao2 жыл бұрын
I definitely feel you mean… it sucks having to wait so long for exhaust options. Actually Akra site mentions that there is a 2.1 kilos gain from the switch and I can definitely feel the improvement on torque/power, especially in high revs! But even though its a nice functional option, it doesn’t look good… I am just waiting on Yoshi to make their system and swap to it for good, then I’ll sell this akra

So dumb right? That's why I am getting a Yoshi for this bike! I only got this Akra because Yoshimura said that they will be able to make their exhausts only next year and I couldn't wait for so long with the muffled OEM sound, but as soon as I get that installed, see ya for this hideous piece of metal! This thing is so ugly that I've took some time to email them to ask if they are planning to do different designs soon (or even a copy/paste of last gen, which was gorgeous and dunno why they changed in the first place, anyway...) and they gave me a super generic response. Didn't mention if they are working on alternative looks nor why they've changed the design so much for the worse.

@@texasblaze1016 your original comment was quite vague, so I thought you were talking about the video. Anyway, I think its a learning process. When I was new to motorcycles, I did my fair share of shit mods, but as you see them fail fast and realize the money you wasted, you understand that you can't buy something based on low cost and emotion alone.

I never understood these low budget aftermarket toy love... Its either stock, or nothing. These will not make any better sound... and in this case, the stock is beautiful, its like when a person singing from heart and the akrapovic is just tryhard garbage...

Thanks for sharing your opinion with us friend! To me, the reason to have exhausts like these is to be able to hear the bike sound at highway speeds. Stock indeed sounds nice, but once you go over 45mph all you hear is wind!
