The first few hundred miles on a chain will have it stretch quite a bit… so every time you put a new chain on, check it a few hundred miles later and verify it’s not too loose.

Hi looking at the handbook Yamaha measure from the bottom of the chain track ( the part the chain rollers touch ) You seem to be measuring from the base plate part ?

I just checked the manual again I think I’m measuring from the right spot in the manual, I used the bottom most part of the wearable chain guard to the center the the Chain after applying pressure, interpretation is always a pain hopefully this makes sense

Put 20 miles on my R7 before storing it this past weekend, snow is coming 🥲 Read through the manual and it says to use 86 of higher gas, what do you recommend? Everyone bike guy I’ve talk to (granted they’re about 20 years older than I am) are saying 91. Appreciate the videos you put out! They help a lot.

Dang, well atleast you got a little ride on it. I can’t remember which one but either the printed or electronic manual says 86 and the other says 91 lol. I would only use 91, cheers!!

Using North America octane rating its 86 or higher. 87 is fine.

A trick I use to make sure the wheel is straight and stays straight when I tighten the axel is I put a screwdriver in between the chain and sprocket and turn the wheel backwards the tool takes the slack out of the chain and holds the axle firm against the adjustment stops while you tighten the axel. Are you going to have to remap for the exhaust or is that something you dont have to do on the newer bikes anymore? 🤙

Haha yep, I was frustrated and actually made this video twice, the one I posted and another one on the lift using a stand and the screwdriver method. I ended up going with this as it’s harder but more people have in the garage what they need, but I still should have done the screwdriver instead of walking the bike back and forth. As for the exhaust you do have to get a map to get the best performance out of it, I was however pretty happy with it as is but I might as well go all the way with it

@@ScoutsOut sweet, I’m looking fwd to seeing the finished product and the performance you get. Everyone wants a do it all with the benefit of a liter bike but the handling of lighter bike. Back in 08 the GSXR 750 was just a bit lacking to what you want but your bike seems like it might have what it takes.

I’m loving it and it’s light and nimble but the power will be something to be desired for people that are used to faster bikes, it’s perfect power for the streets though

@@ScoutsOut What I do is I have a drum stick that I cut in half and I have measurements marked on it to use as a measuring stick to see if it's within spec. It also doubles as the screwdriver method to stick in the sprocket to butt up the wheel. It's a quick and dirty method but it works.

The right side of my swing arm’s tics were pushed back too much and it’s roughly on the 8th tic and the left side is on it’s 6th but i cannot move the left sides tic marks any further back or else the chain is too tight. Can someone help?

Put a screwdriver between the chain and sprocket and roll it in. That will push the wheel and tire back on each adjustment block

this is a good torque wrench for the money amzn.to/3VYi65N harbor freight also sells some decent torque wrenches if you have one near by, I would suggest for most things to include what you will torque on a car not a truck a 3/8 torque wrench is usually enough.

Hello not sure if you will see this but I just did this to my r7 but when I have the bike on a rear stand in neautral the real tire doesnt move. Is that normal or does the real tire need to move??

Confirm the bike is in neutral, did you over tighten the axel? Is the chain to tight? Is the wheel slanted and not inline with the hash marks? Hopefully one of these will help fix it

You have to measure from the center of the link right? Like where the circle is?

@@ScoutsOut thanks. There’s also videos of people on KZfaq measuring from the wrong part of the rubber piece above the chain. They do the very end of it rather than the end of the first ridge/lip part.

Looks like you measured at the front of the gaurd closest to the foot peg. Aren’t you suppose to measure at the half way mark on the gaurd?

If you look in the owners manual, it’ll show you exactly where to measure. Hope this helps.

Put a red line on adjust nut & you'll know if they are turned equally

It’s a snap on one and they are stupid expensive, the new ones are $700. I would look at a less expensive one, even the harbor freight cheap ones are good in my opinion

I literally broke the small bolts locking the adjuster. What do I do?

Buy new adjusters from Yamaha and take it to someone that could maybe show you how to do it correctly

The right side of my swingarm bolt is so loose even though it has 3 tick marks to go. Why is that? It’s practically gotta be hand threaded to match up with the other side.

Put a screwdriver in between the sprocket and chain, when you roll it back it will force both sides agains the adjustment blocks
