Just a quick update on the ongoing jetting and testing process for our performance intake kit.
We can't wait to get this kit out to the masses! You'll no doubt feel the difference in the saddle of your ride!
Cheers,
Jake - Jadus

I for one would like to urge & encourage all Yamaha XV535 owners who are looking to enhance performance on their Bikes to watch earlier videos, where this guy has done away with the highly restrictive factory air intake system, and redeveloped a vastly improved method of delivering improved air flow to the carbs, for the Standard factory pipes, Baffled or unbaffled, and any type of Custom pipes, and is really simple to fit even for the novice owner, and if for any reason you don't like it you can easily revert back to the standard system if desired !!!

100% agree - that intake system is 10/10

I have a black widow exhaust, which I believe you are using in this video. I have checked your site but I don't see any jet kits for sale. What size jets are you specifically using? I am unsure if I need to upgrade from stock for the pipes. Thank you!

Correct, this is the Black Widow drag pipes. We do not sell jetting kits for these bikes, only our intake kit which includes several jets to suit different exhaust set ups. Black Widow claim that you do not need to rejet if just installing the exhaust. We have dyno and O2 data that says otherwise!

I've had to delay my drag pipes order due to complications. If I were to order the kit with jetting for debaffled stock exhaust, do you think it'd be future proof enough to run ok with the drag pipes too, or will it become to lean? Also, how element resistant is the filter? say, if the bike were to spend a night in the rain. would it soak up or does the tank offer enough protection?

@JayWePe We have just started including all jets in all kits and will remove the options from the check out and instead include a jetting chart for customers. We think this will be much better because people will be able to change their exhaust systems and use the jets in the kit to adjust. Good question about the filter being exposed to the elements. The tank does offer a lot of protection, as does the deflector at the front of the tank, which is critical to have in place if you are exposed to the elements. However, in torrential rain, the filter will most likely get damp. It will of course dry under use, but this kind of exposure should be avoided.

@@JadusMotorcycleParts Great. I commute to work on the bike and ride it around in Southern Finland between when the frost on the roads disappears to when they start freezing again. last year this was from april to december so the filter would be meeting all kinds of weather conditions.

Hi Paul, sizing of the main jets depends on a few factors and the data that we have is only relevant for our kit - which has improved air flow. So if you used the jetting settings for our kit without actually installing our kit, your bike would run very rich!

@@JadusMotorcycleParts im running drag pipes with a standard air filter. My top speed is a poor 65mph to 68mph. I went up a couple of sizes on jets to 140 and 142.5 made no difference to top end at all. Was going to increase to 150 and 152.5 main jets. But i read if you go up more than 3 sizes you would need to change pilot jet? Do you think those jet sizes would be in the range i need or may i need bigger with the drag pipes? Also do you need to increase air flow like with your filter setup with drag pipes. Or is this not going to make it just leaner and requiring even larger jet sizes? Any help would be appreciated mate.

@@pauljones449 I am pretty sure Black Widow sell their drag pipes saying they don't need a rejet? Are you sure something else isn't the problem? Does the engine splutter at 65mph or just max out? It could be separation of your carb slides (meaning they cannot open the whole way) - have had that problem ourselves. One more thing; jetting is different for different model years and country of import! So a 150 main jet is huge on a European XV but may not be on an American XV because the jet needles and air filters are different. Never heard anything like that about the pilot jet needing to be changed. In all our testing we found that the stock pilot jet did not need to be changed.

@@JadusMotorcycleParts hi im unsure of manufacturer of pipes as came on the bike when purchased. Its uk model. It would stutter/splutter at full throttle through the gears and at top speed. But when I increased jet size it was 80% better. But no affect to top speed. Now its like its just maxed out at top speed. So your saying the jump to 150 jets would not work with my 93 uk model? And you reckon the problem is most likely diaphram related so needle isnt rising enough? It rides fine and has good throttle response. The problem is at full throttle and top end speed. Thats why I assumed jet size was wrong. But wasnt sure if id increaed enough.

@@pauljones449 Hard to diagnose from afar but there is one simple test you can do to see if you are still too lean on the main jet... On the highway at full throttle, pull out the choke fully. If the bike gains power, you need a larger main jet. If it splutters, you are too rich on the main jet. If it does nothing, something else is probably the problem :) Also, the 93 model UK bikes have different jetting to the 96 and onwards UK bikes, so be aware of that too (if anyone before you has worked on the carbs).
