Had a chance to take out this little YBR 125 the other day, actually surprisingly comfortable to ride. Is this the ultimate budget commuter bike? Quite possibly so!
This particular one was a 2010 model, I'm not sure if they are still making these anymore, but if you're after a second hand starter bike and you're on a bit of a budget, could be worth a look :p
Hope you enjoy the video.
Peace!

I just tell you this: mine has over 77000 km. Bought new in 2007. I used it for commuting and weekend rides. Still rides great, and got some updates over time. Never needed major fixes. YBRs are great bikes.

I want to get this bike but i’ve never had a bike before, would it be suitable for long commutes? It’s over an hour commute to my college, would it be okay on the highway?
@vleessjuu
@vleessjuu 6 ай бұрын
@@Amnax17 A 125 on the highway is always a little iffy because you can't quite keep up (max speed is around 60~65 mph depending on the wind), but if you're careful and stay in the slow lane it's doable. My YBR is plenty comfortable for 1 hour rides for me. I don't mind doing long trips on it at all.

I have a ybr 125 and it’s my first bike. She’s the cleanest ybr I’ve come across too 😅 they’re really light which was helpful when I dropped her because as a reasonably small woman I didn’t struggle to get her back up again. The thing I don’t like is (other than being laughed at for riding a “piano”) if you want to go about 50 you have to pull the throttle back completely and she takes some time to get her speed up. They’re good first time bikes and I want to use her as a uni commuter bike since she’s so fuel efficient

Listen, any bike that can hit at least 50mph is fine for me, where I live, that would be perfect, would likely take me to my work place and to my maths and English class much faster than my slow ass bicycle. I'd love to have any motorbike, slow or fast, I don't care. And besides, the slowest 125s will still like 50-60mph anyways, so it's all good. xD a 50cc moped can hit 30mph, so imagine a 125cc ?

I own one in the jungles of Costa Rica. Roads are bumpy if not outright craters. Heat, rain, mud, and massive amounts of groceries on the back of it. Practically everything on it's been replaced. I have no idea what year it is. I'm probably it's 8th owner 😂 at least. It rides like a champ over these crazy roads. I love this bike and have since found out they're very well regarded in the jungle: easy to fix, parts easy to get, and nearly indestructible. I learned how to ride a motorcycle on these roads on this bike. I love her ❤

Had a YBR for a couple of years: cheap to run, reliable, light, fun, dead easy to ride (even for a 125). Correct about the skinny tyres on these basic 125s - iffy in the wet etc. If you're going down the longer term ownership route on a 125, the higher quality, better/wider tyred end is the way to go: Honda CBR125R, Yamaha MT125, Suzuki GSXS125. They're a grand or so extra but ride, handle, perform, and grip a fair bit better.

They still make YBR's... I own a 2018 model ybr and it just love, they come with airscoops and a louder exhaust... Owing to my commitment to burn lesser fuel, this bike is a perfect fit for commuting, and if you install better tyres, this bike can take you pretty much anywhere

Likewise I started off on a 125 and the ybr125 was it. I'd say its definitely very light and nimble. Very forgiving can't really get into trouble on one. Filtering on the ybr compared to my honda hornet 900 is so easy just like you stated no need to move the handlebars right/left to get the perfect squeeze. (Or in some cases with the honda horent just end up stuck inbetween cars... with nowhere to move) nice review. Thinking of getting one again for a cheap cafe racer project

@shaggy I've owned a few Yamaha dirt bikes and currently own an R6. Shifting problems after an oil change happens to some people that use the incorrect oil. Might have something to do with wet or dry clutch systems or circulation of the oil in the transmission since the block and transmission share the oil. Example: If a car is designed to use a 0w-20 and you put a 10w-40 in it the oil pump and oiling ports can not manage the oil properly and you could experience catastrophic engine failure. Same thing applies to any engine, stepping outside designe specifications can and will cause problems.

You can go on a motorway with L plates on what you can't do is go on with a provisional licence. You will get pulled as cops will assume you're learner and will tell you off for not taking them off but still legal with an full licence. Driving instructors use their cars on a motorway covered in L plates and is perfectly legal.

They’re light and nimble which has been great for learning how to angle myself into corners and bends and what speeds are best so I don’t drop hah. After market parts are cheap enough and easy to come by as well, plus a wealth of knowledge from more experienced bikers online as a pose to what you would find with a Chinese rip off. @DanTheTwoWheeler
@DanTheTwoWheeler Жыл бұрын
Hmm the tyres are quite thin tbh, so you'd have to be careful. Especially where there's oil patches etc. Would be better getting a 125 with a thicker rear tyre and if possible ABS if you're going to be riding in winter

@DanTheTwoWheeler
@DanTheTwoWheeler 8 ай бұрын
Hmm the tyres aren't very thick tbh, winter tyres can make a difference, but mostly riding within your limit, leaving plenty of stopping distance and not going out in crazy conditions are probably your best bet

However, the bike is not giving me the full power, compared to what I am seeing right now on this video. Can you help me please?????

Hmm been a whole since I've ridden that cbf. They're both very similar bikes. These ybr with the exhaust sounds epic, I didn't have anything on the cbf so I guess as it stands prefer this bike. But you could easily put an exhaust on a cbf and have the same effect so 🤷🏻‍♂️
