Yard Transformation | Amazing Before & After!

It started by repurposing some concrete pieces for a fire pit and walkway, then the garden retreat was designed around it to create a private, cozy outdoor space in our little yard. Inspiration for anyone considering a yard makeover. Flower and tree names are included to help you make choices at the garden centre.

This is amazing Debbie! I’ll bet you do have a lot of interest in this transformation from your neighbors! How lucky they are,getting to enjoy your hard work and talents! Such a sweet comment Pam, thank you! One of my neighbour’s calls the garden Sherwood Forest ☺️. If you give to the land, the land will give back and the rewards are great. The garden looks beautiful, Debbie! I love your comment about letting the land speak to you and needing to watch it and be part of it before working it. ❤ I wish we did this every time we built things. Your walkway is brilliant! Watch out for that Willow tree (?... pretty sure from what I can see) in the center. They are beautiful but they grow fast, and limbs break out, especially now that the new branches are all poorly attached adventitious growth (suckers) where clearly someone removed the tree and left the stump high.

Thank you so much! Yes, it is a willow tree and I am constantly pruning it. They are plentiful here and although it has been high maintenance, the birds love it and it is presently shading the garden during this major heatwave, and filtering out a bit of the wildfire smoke that is so thick here right now in British Columbia. That is awesome! I love that you are recycling! Oh you could grow some of that tall ornamental Alberta grass as a privacy wall.

I did plant some porcupine grasses along the fence border and they are supposed to get up to 8 feet tall! I sure hope they grow well! Thank you so much for checking it out Debbie! I’m so glad I could share the progress with you! 💕💐💕

Awesome transformation Deb, the paving is as good as an expert could do. A lot more green then when you started with lawns and screening plants. I can't believe that you would have water restrictions, doesn't all the winter snow turn to water and run into rivers and dams? I bet you have been feeling every shovel load on your body come night time 💤 I transplanted a raspberry plant and when I sat down I couldn't get back up 😩 I hope you get lots of enjoyment from your landscaping and peas, don't forget the peas ☺️

Thank you for visiting the garden Rob! The concrete worked out really well! No more mud in the RV! The water is treated here so that’s why we have restrictions. The towns don’t want to pay for treating more water than necessary. It has rained a few times making it even greener and more lush. I love watching it grow and mature! There’s about 200 peas planted! ☺️🌱 I always make them a priority! Lol! I was definitely feeling sore after the digging and am glad the hardest parts are over. I need to keep active though since sitting is equally as bad for my back. I think the coming months of puttering in the garden will be a perfect balance 😊 Eat some peas for me my friend! I bet you have some ready already! 😋
