GEY108 Yardmaster 8ft x 10ft metal shed guide.
Always wear gloves when handling sheet materials.
Leave screws loose until all panels have holes aligned and screws located.
Use a regular screwdriver or if using battery powered drill/driver keep it set to minimum power and speed to avoid over tightening.
'Square up' the corner to corner measurements before final tightening.
Part numbers and overlap measurements may be different for differing shed sizes, refer to paper instructions for overlap measurements.
If a fastener hole is missing from a panel, do not try to drill a new one if panel will remain secure without it.

I'm building this shed as we speak and have found these videos brilliant..Today I was tieing myself in knots as I completed the roof frame and one of the purlins bent over in compression.5 mins scratching my head and slacked off the purlins bolts and everything popped back straight.Marvelous....Onwards and upwards thank you.....

these videos of building the Yardmaster shed were a real godsend to us during the 3 days of putting this together. The instructions were no good, we used your videos throughout the build and couldn't have done it without them. Added to this we had parts missing too, like it seems others have had. However we got there eventually, and a heartfelt thank you and I just hope Yardmaster give you the reward of the recognition you deserve . Would never buy a Yardmaster product again though, wish we had known just how many small the metal pieces for the shed came in (200 we recon!!!) and therefore how long it took to assemble.

After taking 2 full days to assemble a 10ft x 12ft version of this shed using the supplied very very poor instructions, I wish I had found this first ! I design machines for a living, and the way these sheds have been designed for assembly is just woeful!

Many thanks for taking so much effort to make the vid. It's the most comprehensive on KZfaq. It took me over 8 hours with rain and over 3 days. If it wasn't for your video it would have take more hours . Many thanks EFL7377 from Nuneaton

Lifesaver. I am a fairly hands on type but was struggling with the roof section until i found this clip which is different to the instructions included. . Generally speaking this shed really needs two people and one of those must be proficient at interpreting and adapting plans. big meccano with tiny nuts & bolts!!! as an addendum: I intend to strengthen the construction using timber screwed to the inside. Well done mate and thanks.

Anyone assembling this or similar type of metal shed. I strongly advise to get some tech screws with rubber washers for the roof as the plastic washers will crack over time and eventually couse leaks.

For anyone watching this, i am constructing my 10x10 version of same shed right now and have some advice regarding the roof. Don't join the struts together then connect them to the ends, join the half-struts to the ends then join the struts in the middle. Otherwise, with the 10-footer, things get pretty awkward.

Ace video and instruction up to the part when the roof went on. Arguably the hardest bit to sort and you fast forwarded!

I've commented on the first video about solving leaks. On looking here, I'd say the cover over the apex join is a weak point. If it was raining hard and windy. The rain could blow up under this and drip down inside. So I suggest that as the panels are fitted, where the panels meet the centre apex rail, they are bedded onto a band of clear silicone. Then when the roof is fitted another band is run along the underside of them. I've seen on some videos that some of the panels aren't a tight fit. I'd suggest some small 1cm self tapping screws are screwed through to pull the panel tight and a band of silicone again. I'd use clear as it wouldn't be noticeable.

You will probably get through about 4-5 tubes. But you could always use a foam packer along the join as you bolt it together.
@niptodstan

Yes. You can get soft foam strips for plastic roofing. You could push them in the joint with a scraper.

I know it would take longer but I would replace all those screws with stainless steel rivets and penny washers. Remove each screw once built and square and replace with rivets. Surely with weather and wind, those screws will come loose in time.

This is probably a bit late, but make sure you have overlapped the lower roof frame by the same amount of holes as this could throw your measurements off, remember the 'squaring' of frame work is just equal corner to corner measurements, take into account extra edges and flares, so measure from the same inner corner edges all round, don't include the extra bolted on pieces that are at one end only.

Not to be rude. But you put the metal screws with washers in the holes on the wrong side of the gable panels. The head/washers go from the out - side through (in). This way the washer protects from rain and weather getting in. I know the instructions are crappy, but they help somewhat.

Hi, I had another look at the video, I think your observation is from approx 1:06 to 1:20? If you look at the shape of the channeling, there is no provision for a screwdriver to pass through for tightening from the outside, it could be done with a driver bit and a 'pass thru' ratchet driver, but that's a bit of a specialist tool for this job, will check instructions again and add notes if needed, thanks for raising it though.

ReviewTime You're welcome. But maybe it is because I bought another brand of shed? I could not see the back of the gable in the video. Besides the plastic washers, I also used clear 100% silicone to cover them too as an extra measure. Will prevent the screw heads from ever rusting as well. I don't feel like having to build another one. My old one lasted 33 years until a heavy snow collapsed it. It was very rusty though. This time I also bought and installed the heavy duty roof enhancing kit. Now the shed has 7 roof beams instead of 3 across the top, and 3 of those are doubled up into "eye" beams. Should hold any amount of snow now that remains on the roof.

I have bought the 10x 8 ship lap shed . Many thanks for doing the 3 vids of how to put the shed together. Well I think the shed is total load of crap,it’s cheap metal panels that the holes don’t line up when trying to put it to get her. Rang the company and the man on the other end of the phone was no help what so ever, when I told him of some things that they might have to do to help people assemble the shed that just fell on deaf ears. So in a nut shell I would never buy one of these shed ever again or recommend then to anybody. Be warned?.?
