Funny thing, there's a video game called "Enter the Matrix" That follows Niobe and her crew trhough this movie. Its a tie in game with new live actions scenes that actually complement this movie. I played it as a kid and loved it

I remember seeing the Matrix movies on the big screen. No one had ever seen anything like this, I was hooked from the beginning.

Tank not making it into the sequels is tragic. He brought so much heart to the first film.

Re-watched this film a week ago, and it still remains my personal favorite. The Matrix Reloaded is quite possibly, imo, the best Matrix film.

In my opinion, the second and third Matrix movies are, when put together, just one long movie(a singular sequel to the original), split in half. They were released just 6 months apart(may and november) and at the end of Reloaded they say "to be continued", leaving you on a cliffhanger.

Nebuchadnezzar is named after King Nebuchadnezzar II from Babylonian times/the Bible. There's a lot of Bible references or connections in the franchise... Anderson (son of man/Jesus), Trinity, Zion (safe haven), Resurrection, license plates on cars and ships are passages from Bible (especially in this movie) Little things to look for on your next watch 👋🏼

There's a good reason that Trinity looks BADASS on the bike; Carrie Ann Moss is a SPEED FREAK. I think she's been doing stuff like that her whole life. In contrast to Lawrence Fishburn, who had to find a way to hide the sheer terror on his face when in the car at speed, and trying to stay in character. I believe she did all her own stunts.

The coolest song in this movie playing during the freeway chase scene was done by Juno Reactor. He was also responsible for my favorite character theme from the 90s Mortal Kombat movie. Hopefully you react to it and you can pick up on the similarly to that song when you hear it.

One thing I can tell you so you're not confused is the actress who played the Oracle unfortunately died before they could film the 3rd movie she get replaced without much explanation.

So, remember a lot of the people in Zion were born natural outside of the Matrix. So they have no way of plugging in to go inside the Matrix, and if they don't read Matrix code then all they know about the Matrix is what people tell them. So what Neo's doing in the Matrix would not really have as much meaning for them as it would for someone who lived in the Matrix or at least can see understand what's happening by looking at the code.

I enjoyed your review and as for the movie, I enjoy some of the world building and concepts of it, but the film is inconsistently paced, it gets a little too. . .conceptual and juggles too many plots and concepts at points, and all the slow-motion shots, CGI, and fight sequences have really not aged very well although I remember them looking amazing when it came out. Overall I would give it about a 3/5 myself, a clear step down from the original (as most sequels are) that I used to enjoy a lot more but on rewatching it a year or two ago it made me realize that parts of it have definitely aged rather poorly.

In my opinion, The Matrix 2-3 have too many boring scenes. There is overacting and unnecessary philosophizing. The action scenes are also too long, and there is too much repetition in the fight choreography. That's why I created a "Matrix ULTIMATE" version, where I combined the two parts but cut out all the unnecessary scenes, resulting in a single, dynamic three-hour movie. To conclude the story, I also used a few scenes from The Matrix 4. If you're interested in the full Matrix 2+3 ULTIMATE (2024) version, search for the 'Matrix 2 3 ULTIMATE end scene' clip among my videos, and you will find a GDRIVE link in the comments. I managed to cut out an hour of unnecessary scenes without harming the story. I put four months of work into this because I had to create perfect audio transitions in 160 places. (Sometimes I cut out just a single ridiculous word or sentence.) I've gone through many test viewings. Even those who hadn't seen Matrix 2 and 3 helped, and based on their suggestions, I reinserted a few weak scenes because the story demanded it. If someone made a 'first-watch' video of this, it would truly be a rarity because, besides my friends, no one has seen it yet. Most Matrix fans agree that the sequels got progressively weaker, and this combined version has become a highly RECOMMENDED film for the new generation as well. It's a sequel that you won't want to fast-forward through at any point. (And to reiterate, I used scenes from Matrix 4 for the story's ending, so we see Trinity and Neo 20 years older.)

Sometimes people miss this but I think The Animatrix was out in-between the first and second films. You don't really miss anything by not seeing it but it does introduce us to Captian Niobe (sp?) and that Neo fanboy kid iirc.

One of the best action sequences of all time with the freeway set-piece. The film is severely underrated!! It’s got great twists and builds the mythology of the story. Great stuff!!

You get to meet the old man in the chair who just exposition dumps for a whole scene and confuses half of the audience.

People who dislike this movie tend to be put off because it delves further into philosophy and away from the action. I laughed when you interpreted Neo being called The One because he is somehow one percent. I's not that difficult to understand that he is The One, like Jesus A basic understanding of various religions/mythologies will help you to see that this movie references numerous beliefs such as Christianity, Judaism and Hinduism.

Fun fact: Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) learned how to ride a motorcycle specifically for this movie. The most terrifying thing about that experience is the fact that the wellbeing of Randall Duk Kim (The Keymaker) depended on her not making any mistakes while filming the highway chase.
