The exception, however, was one year that was particularly burdened with a level of tragedy and strife most historians say surpassed any other moment in history: 536 CE. I completely agree. Knowing and studying history ive learned to enjoy the little things in life. I deeply appreciate the roads i drive on, in my motorized chariot that moves by the push of my foot, my cell phone that can help me research ANYTHING my mind wishes, and a shiny bright sun that isnt too hot, and isnt too cold. Just right.

The sheer fact I’m alive is amazing. My bloodline manage to make it through some of the worst times in human history. Think of how many bloodlines that made it through the hundreds of centuries that will end today do to a car crash or overdose or suicide. Appreciate being alive. Work hard to make ever day matter, these people in 536 worked hard to make sure you’d be here today.

hi, US American here, but i’m an engineer and appreciate Celsius. @ 2:55, the unit conversion doesn’t make sense. The global temperature dropped between 1.6 to 2.5 degrees Celsius. 1.6C is indeed equivalent to 34.88F, and 2.5C to 36.5F. But the temperature didn’t drop to nearly freezing, it dropped a few degrees from the then average temperature. You need to convert one degree system to the other, meaning we need to know how many Fahrenheit degrees fit into a Celsius degree. In Celsius the difference in degrees between freezing and boiling is 100 units. In Fahrenheit the difference is 180 (32 to 212, idk why either) so comparing 100 to 180, 1 degree of Celsius is 1.8 times bigger than a degree of Fahrenheit. So the global temperature dropping 1.6 to 2.5 degrees C means it dropped 2.88 to 4.5 degrees F.

Lol, if the average global temp really had dropped some 35 degrees F, then 536 wouldn’t have just been the worst year for everyone. It probably would’ve also been the last year for everyone.

The volcanic activity around the world in 536 AD must have been massive. A more recent similar event happened the last time Krakatoa blew in 1883 and the volcanic winter was only half as bad as 536. And the Krakatoa eruption was no joke. Tens of thousands of people died from the explosion and tsunamis, and people in western Australia heard the blast, almost 2,000 miles away. It was the loudest recorded sound in modern history. Imagine what it would have been like in 536. 💀

2:45- This is a ridiculously wrong statement. 2.5 degrees Celsius may be equivalent to 36.5 degrees Fahrenheit as static temperatures are concerned, but a DECREASE of 2.5 C is not equal to a DECREASE of 36.5 F below the average temperature. It's more like a decrease of 4.5 degrees F.

You do realize that the volcano that preceded Krakatoa, that has been shown to erupt approximately every 1300 years exploded then... and per the surviving records of a kingdom near there, took out a large city and separated Sumatra from Java -- the city was located on the isthmus that connected the two islands... and a several year darkening of the sky occurred afterwards... This is per a historian/scientist research... The previous explosion of the same volcano was the Bronze age collapse.... about 800 BC....

Much bad will occur but you know what some amazing things will occur then too, eventually all diseases will be cured, many amazing things will be found or pop up including resources, and the land will be more rich in nutrients unlike before. Its gonna be a rollercoaster of ups and downs from now and 2021 to 2030/2040 to ?.

for anyone wondering what the mistake is: the formula to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit is (1.8C)+32=F 1.6 C is equivalent to 34.88 F. But if the average temperature is, say, 13.9 C (or 57 F), but then drops by 1.6 C, it becomes 12.3 C (or 54.1 F). So a drop by 1.6 C would be equivalent to a drop by 2.9 F.

2:45 is misleading, the Fahrenheit conversation isn't representative of the rate of change but rather the temperature itself. If it's 1.6⁰ C outside then it is 34.88⁰ F outside. The conversion from Celsius to Fahrenheit is: (X)(1.8+32) However, to get the rate we only need to multiply the Celius measurements by 1.8 (X)×1.8 The proper conversion would be a temperature drop of 2.88⁰-4.5⁰F

This is normal for a lot of the planet. There are places that have been overcast for more than 365 days in row in just the US and thats a single country. Add in all those in europe, asia, south america that get lots of overcast days im sure there is a place every year that hasnt seen sun in a year or more. But the people and plants and animals are adapted for it in those places. It's like in Alaska, parts of the state are overcast all year long and then you have season long days and nights in addition to that. And Alaska has some of the wildest natural temperate rainforests on planet earth without all the sunlight.
