The witch literally taunted her the whole show and tried to trick her to sacrifice Ciri in return for her powers. She literally had them and used them as black mail towards Yennefer. Yennefer immediately got her powers after the witch was sent to her dimension- she was manipulated into thinking she lost her own powers. It wasn’t her. It was the witch sis @Lumatic

She lost her magic after unleashing fire on the nifilgaardians last season. Chaos left her cause she hadn't given the worth of what was taken to cast the magic at the battle of Sodden. At least that what I thought at the beginning of season 2.

@@madamesatan4921 there were some sorcers who were willing to sacrificed their organs , limbs or soul just to perform those dangerous but powerful magic, you can see that from some sense from season 2 too. I think yenefer lost her magic because she keep pushing herself and deny herself.

I think it’s because she keep pushing and denying herself. The first scene she in that hut when she trying perform that lifting spell you can hear the magic sound in the background almost coming up. She denied herself and gave up. Like a psychological problem. Also when she sacrifice herself for ciri she said magic wasn’t she has been missing , means she have it all the time just can’t perform it. She cut her wrist just like the first sence that happened in the vision at that hut means she has untied knot in her heart and regain the confidence and also the power. I think this thoughts might look more reasonable , it can related with all the small details from the series.
