This song has a very long and interesting history. The music for this song was written by Remo Giazotto in the mid-20th century. He claimed that it came from a music fragment written in the early 1700s by a composer named Albinoni. The music was known throughout the last half of the 20th century as "Albinoni's Adagio." Music historians always doubted that it came from Albinoni, and Giazotto copyrighted the music under his own name in 1958. It was used as background music in numerous movies. After Giazotto died in 1998, his belongings, as well as important music libraries, were thoroughly searched and nothing could be found to suggest that any part of the music was written before the mid-20th century. So Albinoni had nothing to do with "Albinoni's Adagio."
