The fact that the people coming at music as an experience and form of expression on both sides of this - the makers, the audience - seem to come at it from a singularly artificial point is so sad to me. From the makers, "I got into this because it's where the audience is (not because it's what I'm actually passionate about and what I got into making music for)" and from the audience "I'm not really into this genre, but I the message (of hating people that aren't like me)" man, what a bummer. It's like a couple where both people aren't even attracted to each other and fell out of love, but they keep sleeping together because they don't want to be single.

This really was a well put-together doc. Erica did such a great job. You can tell that she doesn’t agree with their views, but was respectful and didn’t smear them throughout post-production commentary or anything. Bryson is a Christian first. I believe he stated that in this video. There is a list of things not to be done in the Bible. It specifically states that men shall not where women's clothing and vice versa. I don't know what he was thinking or feeling, obviously, but his beliefs are what he believes. Bryson, just like you and every other American, has a right to live his life according to those beliefs. I think his uncomfortable manner was just what he said - disgust.

Little does conservative America know huge swaths of their states are propped up by soy and government subsidies in soy cultivation. So not only is your state industry comprised mainly of soy (along with corn and wheat) the government makes sure you get paid a sustainable wage through subsidies and on top of that most of these rural states are a net negative on the Federal balance sheet, so they take in more than they put back out in terms of economic production. In essence, Blue states, who contribute more than they take out in federal funding, are sustaining soy based life in rural red states. Maybe MGT was right and we should have a national divorce but given that over 70% of the US GDP comes from blue areas, that might not go very well

What I see from a lot of these MAGA people in the US is them complaining about how terrible and conspiratorial everything is while simultaneously living a life of extreme privilege. In this case, driving about in one of the multiple huge vehicles parked in their spacious home, piling takeaway food into their overweight bodies or decorating them with tattoos and designer sportswear, and swanning about doing their stupid teenage vanity projects.

It was surreal because we know now that Florida is moving full speed ahead with anti-trans laws and forcible de-transitioning. She's committed to MAGA, while MAGA is committed to eradicating her identity. Plus there was the juxtaposition of Teri supporting the artists, while the one guy just couldn't stop looking at and talking about her in the most degrading way possible. It was bizarre that the one guy couldn't stop thinking and talking about Teri when she was doing nothing. It was seeing his obsession in real time.
