Singer Four Star Playhouse is an example of the "golden age of television". This episode has high production values as well as good writing and acting. Paul Dubov is in several of Roger Corman's movies and it's a pleasure to see him acting here.

That was great what an excellent story. Reminds me of my first love we lost touch for 20 years and then reconnected and now we’re good friends just friends but good friends. It’s amazing how you can forget the bad times and only remember the good times when you put your mind to it.

Good to see Ralph Moody {shop keeper} . Classic old time radio, film, stage and television character actor {Dragnet, Gunsmoke, etc.}

If I was his wife I would totally encourage him to find out the truth? If his first wife isn't dead, his second marriage isn't legal! However, to avoid legal recall he can get a " Non Pro Tunc" Divorce. A now for then, based on the legal Death Certificate issued by the Coroner.

At 14:34 it's a simplistic assumption that the woman who left him nine years ago would want him back now or that he'd forgive her

PF should say this is Four Star Playhouse even though the music reveals it. Though 4 Star is usually much better than this.

💖 ~ 🍕🍕🍕 Until the ending, I luvvved the suspense of this movie-like TV show & the cool director.😎 The POV through the pawn shop's glass display case of the husband's shocked reaction when seeing her ring was my fav shot - primo!!! Luv-LUV-LUVVV that shot!!!!!😎 Hated the ambiguity at the end.👊 What a total let-down after investing such high-alert emotions into the developing story that strung me along - like a sly predator. NOT cool. Sooo ... his first wife left him to run off & have an adventurous affair with that down-on-his-luck lobster fisherman (who E-VON admitted he'd spent that whole year pawning everything), & she drowned non-nefariously, & he innocently pawned her ring just to survive?!? Orrrrrr ... he saw a total stranger drown from his lobster boat & tried to save her, but his attempt failed, & her ring slipped off her slippery hand & into his as she slipped under the water; so innocent him pawned it cuz of low lobster catches?!? Orrrrr ... since he was a swarmy ladies' man (that embittered apt. female's final message for the husband was: "Tell him to drop dead"), he charm-conned her away from her husband; then she got mad when she found out he was playing around on her behind her back, too, & she confronted him, demanding that she be his only ultimatum, & they got in a fight & she fell wrong & hit her head, so he threw her overboard in a panic, but first he stole her ring right off of her finger, & then pawned it?!? Orrrrrrr ... after it dawned on her that he was an unfaithful jerk & a luuuzzzer money-wise & a lazy boat-bum, she told him she was gonna leave & go back to her husband; he tried to keep her from leaving & deliberately killed her in anger - a crime of passion - then stole her ring in a fit of rage, before throwing her overboard, & then he hard-heartedly pawned it. C'mon!!! She was never found!!! Too many possible scenarios E-VON beyond these. That barkeeper acted waaayyyyy too suspiciously at the end - kinda gave the impression her drowning really was nefarious. I wanna know what he knew!!!!! They BOTH knew the truth. We viewers are left totally clueless. Not ok. That "happily ever after" ending with them skipping into the sunset to "the house" was disjointed & it means nothing to me. NOTHING, scriptwriters! They could've, at least, finished this story with a Part 2. Sooo not ok. The majority of the script was a carefully written intrigue - then that last bar scene completely spoiled the entire story. Lazy writing. THE BIG REVEAL THAT FAILED TO REVEAL!!! Substandard writing. Would luv for someone inner-connected with the making of this show to come forward to 'SPLAIN themselves. Please. Thank You for this gift, anyway🍕 - DID luv this show ... only hated the ending. NOT your fault. 👍✌🤙 💜 ✝️ 💜 👊 🇺🇸 ⚖ If you wish for peace, prepare for war. 💖
